Q: extending network
Hi, hope someone with more network knowledge that I can help me.
Here is the scenario
I have an Airport Extreme that I as using as my router and which, with one Airport Express covers about half of my house. Unfortuately the signal wont go right down to the far end of the house extension where I also need it, even when i use some further Airport Express's.
I have a Time Capsule and my plan was as follows:
Position the Time Capsule within the extended part of my house and hard wire to the Airport Extreme. Then use the Time Capsule signal, with if necessary a further AE to cover the house extension area. However, when i plugged the ethernet cable into both the Airport Extreme and Time Capsule ethernet ports, my wifi signal seemed to be lost and the WifI connection icon on my iMac was flickering. I also lost Internet connection.
My questions are thus:
1. Is what I am trying to do feasible
2. Do I keep everything on a single network to make it easy to move around without having to keepo changing networks on the computers.
3. The only options that I appear to have on the Time Capsule are to Create a new network or extend an existing one. Which should I choose, given that I am actually intending to connect the TC and Airport Extreme with a hard cable.
4. Are there any other settings that I need to change on either the Time Capsule or Airport Extreme?
Any other tips tricks or suggestions would be most welcome
Thanks
Alex

If you are using Lion and AirPort Utility 6.0, you would select the DHCP option for Internet Connection.
Click the Wireless tab and set things up to "Create a wireless network" using the same wireless network name, security settings and password as the "main" AirPort Extreme network
Click the Network tab to make sure that the Time Capsule is set to "Off (Bridge Mode)"
Then Update the settings.
