Resolution issues with HDMI on samsung T220HD

When I got my new Mac Mini, I imediately plugged it into my Samsung SyncMaster T220HD with the DVI-HDMI adapter and the display looked great, the resolution was high and clear, but then I needed to plug the mini into the monitor using a straight HDMI-HDMI cable, I set the monitor HDMI settings to "wide" but for some reason the resolution was set to 840x525 (HiPDI) with the text being really big. I tried putting the resolution higher but it looks terrible with pixelation on everything, the DVI adapter option seemed to allow for much clearer/higher resolutions. Is there anyway I can get the same kind of display with the HDMI-HDMI ? or is that just how it is? also is it a monitor issue?

Thanks for any advice.

Not sure how to close this thread, but I solved the issue, it was just a case of the mini's resolution needed to be at exactly the same resolution that the monitor was in, which was 1680x1050.
