I would not risk the chance of damaging the special coatings on the glass.

    Use a dry microfiber cloth.

    There you go.

Please state what special coating is on the glass that covers the LED screen.

Even glossy screens have anti-glare coatings.

microfiber cloth with eyeglass cleaner made for glasses with coated lenses, if the dry cloth doesn't do it.

Over a year ago I purchased at the Apple store a product called iKlear (i came with a couple of nice cloths, wipes and a bottle of some sort of secret potion).  Apple no longer sells it but I have seen it available on the Internet.

You can also use distilled water without any fear so long the cloth is non abrasive.  One gallon will last you a lifetime and then some.

Understand that what I do does not imply that what others have suggested is inherently wrong.

    Ciao.

    Probably not.

Read your MBP's User Guide. (If you've misplaced it, you can download it from Apple.)

    Here's what mine says:

Cleaning the MacBook Pro screen: To clean the MacBook Pro screen, first shut down your MacBook Pro and unplug the power adapter. Then dampen the included cleaning cloth with just water and wipe the screen. Do not spray liquid directly on the screen.

Yours might say something else, because display technology has changed over the years.

This is a secret, so don't tell anyone, but I've been using Windex with ammonia on all my Powerbook and MBP screens, nonglare and glossy, for 18 years without any ill effects whatsoever. It does a better job than anything else. But that's just me. Anyone else's screen would probably have been ruined by now.

To atone for spreading heresy here, I will say in all seriousness that you NEVER want to spray anything, whether it's Windex, iKlear, tequila, saliva or Chanel No. 5, directly onto the screen. Whatever your poison, spray it sparingly onto a cloth and then wipe the screen with it.
