Hi Barbara,
now I an confused: what do you mean by "original project"? 😕 A project in your current library or a project in a previous version of your library?
I 'control' clicked and removed the images..instead of deleting them, and I still have them in my original project.
- If the image versions are still in the "original project" inside your current library, then you only removed them from an album - no need to restore anything from back up - just drag the images from your project back to the album where they are missing.
- But if they are no longer in your current library, then you will need to restore them to your library:
Have you looked into your trash bin on your Desktop? If you did not empty it, the images still are in your Desktop trash - you can drag those from the trash bin to the Desktop and reimport them into Aperture.
If you need to restore them from a Time Machine Backup, an easy way would be first to open a Finder window showing your Aperture Library Package contents:
- Select and Ctrl-click your Aperture Library in the Finder, then select "Show Package Contents".
- You will see the Folders inside your Aperture Library - Drag the "Masters" folder to your Finder Sidebar for easy access.
- Then connect your Time Machine Disk and enter Time Machine; go back in time, until you come to a date before you deleted your image.
- Browse the "Masters" folder, the projects are organized by year - month - day and locate the missing image file. Select it and restore to the Desktop, then import again.
I think, it will help you, if you get a better understanding about the organisation of an Aperture Library and the items you use to contain and to organize your images. Kirby Krieger has written some very helpful intructory posts, see here:
