Can't sync 4s movies to ipad1

I take videos with my iPhone 4S and I cannot sync them to my iPad 1. Why? All sync settings are correct.

Is the software on your iPad 1 up to date? I would suggest backing up your ipad first then i would transfer purchases from ipad to itunes library. Then i would remove check from next to movies and click apply to remove all movies from ipad. The put check back and only sync the iphone 4s movies to the ipad and see if they sync to the ipad

1) Backup ipad http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US

2) Transfer purchases http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US

3) remove check from next to sync videos or movies and click apply to remove videos from ipad

4) then put check back and sync videos back to ipad http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2729

Not sure if there is a compatiblilty issue but I would still try removing check from next to syncing videos in iTunes the try to sync only the iphone 4s video to ipad, Are you getting an error message when you sync the videos. Also make sure your itunes and computer are up to date as well.

I had this same problem, where I took videos using my iPhone 4s, and was unable to sync them with an iPad 1. Skyline007 is correct that iPad 1 does not support 1080p videos. Once I converted the 1080p movies to iPad format (as suggested by Skyline007) then the sync was successful. Unfortunately, this is a very time consuming and kludgy process.Looks as though my only alternative is to pony up $$$$ for a new iPad which supports 1080p. Ouch!!!

Skyline007 and Iknowthewaytosj are right! iPhone 4S and iPad1 don't match... at least in these video issues.

You'll have to downsize the video through iTunes. In the iTunes 11.0.2 version, there's no more Advanced on the Menu Bar, now you'll find it under File > Create new version > Create version for Ipad or Apple TV

Thanks both for your comments.

How do I downsize the video through iTunes? In iPhoto, I can export to different formats/resolutions. In iTunes, I see the "Create New Version," but all is grayed out. I'm not sure how to pick the video I want to create a new version of.

My normal method for getting iPhoto videos into iTunes is by putting the videos into an album and syncing that album with iTunes.

Useful thread - thanks everybody.

Hi Ricky_Bobby,

You will need to add the videos to iTunes. If you are using iTunes 11.x.x, once it is added to your iTunes library, select "Movies" from the drop down menu under the play button > select the video you want to change > click File > "create new version" > "create iPad or Apple TV version" > once conversion is done, you will see 2 videos with the same file name/title

Hope this helps.
