G-Speed Q noisy? Suggestions for quiet raid?

I just received a G-Speed Q external raid (8 TB) from the Apple Store, and though it was advertised as "whisper quiet" the fan is quite noisy and always on high speed. When I turn it on besides my Mac Pro (4 internal HDs + big graphics card) it sounds like a hairdryer. G-Technology support told me that this sounds like a defective unit, but I saw some other complaints about G-Speeds beeing noisy. So should I send it back and look for another solution?

Any advice or suggestions for a quiet raid (5) solution would be very appreciated.
