Can't on to iTunes Store. But don't get any error messages

Since upgrading to 10.6 I can't log on to the store. I don't get any error messages, it just doesn't log on.

Password etc is right and I can access the internet Ok just not iTunes.

I have tried downgrading to a previous version of iTunes but then can't use iTunes as I get a message saying the "library is not accesible because it was created

in a newer version of iTunes"

I have tried disabling Firewalls and AVG Antivirus without any success.

Anyone got any ideas?

Close your iTunes,

Go to command Prompt -

(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".

(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt

In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

netsh winsock reset

Hit "ENTER" key

Restart your computer.

If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.

Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Hi wiclee

Thanks for the info.

I did as you advised but nothing has changed unfortunately.

I have also now found out the my personal contacts in Outlook that were converted into iCloud contacts

are also inaccessable and have apparently vanished.

I don't know if the two are linked or if I'm just getting paranoid or stupid or both. It's bloody annoying though.

Hi All

Finally got it sorted.

It turns out that my 'AVG Family' software that I installed to stop my kids seeing all the nasties in cyberspace, has a known conflict with iTunes. Even though I had disabled it and then uninstalled it the problem persisted.

Combined info form Apple and AVG sorted the problem.

I also got an update for iCloud that fixed the 'known problems' with iCloud compatibility with Windows.

All in all I am now a happy chap.
