ipad apartment management

My name is Chris and i help to manage a 200 unit apartment complex. We purchased 2 IPad 2's last week for our complex. We idealy would like to use the ipads to complete the normal tasks at hand.

Work Orders: We create the orginal work order in the leasing office and it syncs via icloud or other methods to the maintenance men's ipad. When they complete the work order they can mark what was finished and send it back. Evernote works perfectly for this, but there is no database we can upend to it, or is there? I would like to create a database of all 200 apartments so when the work order is compleated it could be saved to that specific apartment. The database would be viewable from both ipads so for instance our maintenance staff could view if there is a reoccurring issue, ect.

Apartment Make ready lists: Again, this feature would be similar to the work order function. The leasing office could use a specific form to explain the condition of the apartment so the maintenance staff will have a sort of punch list of what they need to complete so the apartment can be made ready for the next tenant.

Database management... Example: when tenant "A" moves out of apartment 101 we could put them into a subdatabase...of moveouts... or simply Apartment 101 A. The letter " is used to explain a prior tenant, not the current tenant. Moving forward, when the second tenant moves out, we could call them 101 B and so on.

So i know this is all a pipedream, but is there any suggestions that anyone has to help solve these issues?

Thanks!

PS, Bento seams like it would work, except there is currently no way for the IPads to talk to each other... missing ICloud support between two IOS devices. And we currently do not use Mac's in our office, so i would have to dust of my Mac Mini from home and bring it in, and I would rather not do that, plus having the maintenance men come to the office to sync his ipad is counter productive to him having the device and getting realtime updates on the fly!

This would be a little adhock.

You could look at Google Office. Maybe a shared folder. Make up a folder for each office.

Maybe you could get by with a little cloud storage.

I'd look at one of these syncing apps. You create the document on your iPad & let one of these synciing services spread it around.

"Using SugarSync, you simply designate folders that you want to “sync” to the cloud and it keeps everything in sync anytime you make changes. This is the way cloud storage should be done and especially if you are using your iPad for buisness or for school."

Doug says:

This can be done with Dropbox as well using one of the many Dropbox addons…

The only potential downside is that so many apps for the iPhone/iPad come with Dropbox sync built in which makes it extremely convenient.

A restaurant ordering system might work for repairs. == better than you might think at first glance. ==

Instead of food, you would list your items to fix. You would create a list of common things to fix as the menu. That way when a problem occurred, you would check off items.

Menu:

- clogged sink

- Leaking sink faucet

- broken kitchen

For the apartment number, maybe you could use waitress number.

The 'chef' would get the order. When done, put "food" as ready.

Hopefully, the order system would allow comments.

Might give them a call. Might like to expand their business.
