Decompose imported figures eps or pdf

I'm hoping for some direction on whether or not keynote has the capacity to decompose a eps or pdf file when it's imported. I'm a scientist so I make a lot of my figures in other programs (e.g. R, Sigmaplot). I know ppt in windows allows you to decompose a graph into vectors if the file has been converted into a wmf. is there an analogous way to do this for mac or am i SOL?
