How do I setup the wireless client name for my iPhone on the Airport Extreme?

I want to know how to enter the device name for the Wireless Client as displayed in the AirPort Utility app.

Currently the IP address is displayed while my other devices have their names displayed.

I tried the following on the iPhone: Settings > WiFi > select the Network > DHCP tab > enter name under Client ID > select Renew Lease. But this did not change the name displayed in the AirPort Utility.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance for your help.

Sounds like you have done this.

Settings -> Network -> Wi-Fi -> on your network, click the blue arrow on the right side -> Type in the name you want in the Client ID

That should work...

It does for me...

When you go back into the settings, is the name you put there still there?

Or has it disappeared?

You may have to restart the Extreme to get it to show the name.

The IP address for the iPhone appears but the name in the Client ID does not.

Not a big deal. I just thought I was doing something wrong.

The name change was retained in the wifi settings, but it did not show up in the AirPort Utility app.

I restarted the AirPort and no name change either.

Any other ideas?

So there is no name at all in your Airport Utility under the DHCP tab.

No other ideas...

Whatever name I put in there, Mine works.
