Now that the weather has turned took my ipad out on the deck to read and found that I couldn't see it well. Works pretty much like a mirror, about all I could see was my own reflection.
I hope there are solutions for this,, anyone??
But as Chris said the OP wasn't asking for that. If one is going to buy their books, movies and music from Amazon the two device solution works. Otherwise not so much and the umbrella solution becomes better.

The umbrella was useless for me. I had to hide underneath a blanket. Not really acceptable when I'm at the beach to get some sun.
I don't do the sun so it has never been much of an issue for me. My sister has used her Nook on the beach under an umbrella and it worked for her.

Yes, the Nook is also much better than the iPad in the sun.
Not sure why, it has basically the same screen as the iPad and the same gorilla glass. Same goes for the Kindle Fire.
Can't address the Fire. I have the plain old Kindle.
She has the Nook Touch, or whatever it is called, the one that runs on Android, in color, etc.
If it does the job, that's all that counts.

That's unfortunate. The basic Kindle works just fine in the sun.
I have one of the early Kindles (white screen) as a book reader it is far better than an iPad (it was about $50 I think), but it's pretty hopeless at everything else 🙂
Lol! I once had a friend suggest plugging my MacBook into a bathroom plug to help with my wi-fi connection.
TThanks for your help with the sunshade suggestion. Will this shade work with the iPad case on, or do you have to remove it?
No problem. Happy to help. I've tried the shade with an apple smart case on my iPad. If I remove the front magnetic cover the shade fits just fine over the case.
