My 09'MacbookPro 17 will not wake up from sleep mode

Hi, It sat for a half hour, when I came back to it it usually will wake back up- this time-I had the normal noise it makes but the screen was black. I tried the restart...nothing...then held the On button down to manually shut it down...and it would not shut down. I then tried removing the battery, held the On key for 10 seconds, replaced the battery and it still will not fire up. I let it sit overnight, tried again and nothing....Any suggestions would be most welcome! Thanks!
