Just upgraded to Lion. In iCal I try to change name of calendar. I type in new name but it reverts to old name. I try to create new calendar with the name I tried to change the old one to, but after I type in the name and press return the new calendar is named "untitled".

Quit iCal, and try removing the com.apple.iCal.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Also go to the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder and remove any/all files with "Cache" as a part of the file name field.
To find the user Library, use Finder>Go>Depress the "Option" key>Library>Preferences. Drag the .plist file and Cache file(s) to your desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for any improvement.
If that does not work, are there any other clues about your setup that may be helpful?
Hi Ferd-your solution is not helping me and Im having the same problem. I'm using iCal and don't have any other calendars or reminders listed (just Home and Work). Just upgraded to Lion. I tried your suggestion and not getting anywhere!

I have upgraded to mountain lion and I am having the same problem> however I cannot find a file with that name on my computer. I followed all the steps above. I make to the plit files but the is no "com.apple.iCal.plist"

What calendars are listed under your "Calendars" button? Do you have any calendars with the same name in that list?
Are you using iCloud?

These are calendars in group "on my mac", not using iCloud (that's a whole other problem, iCloud not pushing events to iPhone 3G).
Long time Mac user this is just odd to me.

Without divulging personal information, what are they named?
You can’t change the name of the Exchange calendar named Calendar.
I am trying to name one "Bridge" the other "Appointments". No other calendar in the group with same name. In fact this is the only group
