1080P

Because Apple wants you to buy a new iPad.

Seriously, that's the only explainable reason. The iPad is definitely capable of playing 1080p stuff. I bought AVPlayer app for such things. I also bought iMovie and iPhoto for my iPad1, just to see that iTunes denies installing them on my iPad. Luckily, both can be installed using the iPhone Config tool and both work smoothly.

Only tip: get a player app that can do 1080p.

So then... iPad 1 can play 1080p... iTunes won't even let me sync 1080p TV Shows to my iPad 1.

Any iPad Apps that can do the 1080p content?

As I already wrote: AVPlayer. In this case AVPlayer HD. Can play 1080p MP4 and MKV, whereas MKV with DTS maybe choppy.
