How do I change the time zone on my iphone?

Settings>General>Date & Time. You can set it manually or have it set automatically based on your current location.

hey guys. my wife had this problem with her iPhone 4s but mine was fine. i've hunted high and low on the web but nothing. i think i found a fix. well, it worked for my wifes fone anyway.

* Go to Settings / Location Services

* hiding right down the bottom is System Services. open this.

* there is a "Setting Time Zone" setting. turn to on

this fixed my issue. let me know if it fixes yours too

The location services setting sets the time zone based on GPS location. Yes it works, but it is normally unnecessary, and it has been known to reduce battery life as it periodically must fire up location services, check its location, and make sure the time zone has not changed.

The setting that randers4 mentions does NOT use location services at all, but takes it time setting and time zone from the cell tower carrier signal of the tower(s) it is within connection range of. Note that setting does more then just set the time zone, it also auto-sychronizes your devices date and clock to the time signal from the tower.

You really should use one, or the other, and unless randers3 suggestion is not working for some reason (eg. not in range of any cell towers) I would leave the location services feature OFF as you will get better battery life that way.

cool but even if you turn it on, then turn it off, it still fixes the time zone issue

Sure, once it gets a fix, and you turn it off, that last time zone determination should be set - until/unless the other auto time setting messes it up (it is not unheard of for a cell tower to be sending fubar'd time data - rare I'd say, but not impossible - I've had it happen once to me, after a storm took out some towers that had to be repaired/replaced and initially they were telling my phone I was on PDT not EDT).

it seems to be a repeat issue with many iphone 4 customers for some crazy reason. time zone issues. my wifes fone was on 'set automatically' and it was fine then it just changed and was stuck on Sydney, Australia for some unknown reason. weird because we live in New Zealand 3 hours flight away.

if this is true, then many people worldwide are having this very issue where this doesn't seem to be working which is pretty frustrating.i played around with the 'set automatically' for literally hours and tried many different fixes mentioned here in these forums...with no fix. i found this and it has seemed to worked. its worth a shot anyway dont you think? even if it is turned on and turned off, it fixed my wife's time zone issue

Sure, if it fixes things use it. I'm just saying be aware that if left on, the location services setting will use at the least a bit of power regularly as it has some frquency with which it uses location services to check the location and make sure the time zone has not changed. Since location services is one of the most demanding things on an iPhone (in terms of power use), it can make a difference in battery time between charges.

If you turn off the automatic data&time, use locations services setting once to set the time zone, then disable it, as long as your iPhone clock does not drift much you should be fine.

P.S. I do not know whether the location services setting also synchronized the clock along with setting the time zone - it should be able to sync up the iPhone clock as well, but I don't know for sure it actually does that too.

yeah location services did sync my wifes clock. if the 'Set Automatically' setting was on, it would change the Time Zone to Sydney and put the clocks back 3 hours. when i turned on the location setting, it changed the Time Zone back to Wellington (NZ) and altered the time also so now the fone is as it should be and haven't had any problems yet....

and also on the end of that last reply, after i turned Location Setting on, i then turned it off and the phone seems to be running fine.
