I can see the AirPlay icon, but no mirroring function.

Hi,

Using iPad 2 with iOS 5.1 and Apple TV with the latest software, 5.0.

They are on the same network, I can use AirPlay to play music and show pictures on my HDTV through the Apple TV.

I push the home button twice, swipe to the right and I can see the AirPlay-button that's working perfectly fine. There's no mirroring option there though, what to do? I tried restarting them both twice and it still didn't help. Any suggestions? I'm not used to having problems with apple, everything has "just worked" until now.

First you have to select to AirPlay to the Apple TV, then a small slider will appear underneath that offers you the ability to turn mirroring on. If you have already done this, try a hard reset (holding the sleep/wake and home buttons at the same time until the screen goes black and the Apple logo reappears).
