Why does ampersand appear as &

When posting here via the iPad, I'm finding that whenever I use the "and" character (ampersand) it appears with "amp" alongside it!

Here's a few examples!

& & & &

I also cant edit a post with the Pad, (ive had to switch to the MBP)

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.2, 64G wifi

There do appear to be some limitations to functionality on this site when using Safari in an iOS device (ironic, huh?). The ability to edit a post after submitting being just on.

In the case of the ampersand, it is being converted to and displayed as its ACII string.
