Shift+Command+I used to create a mail message using Safari

If I am browsing in Safari, I used Shift+Command+I to create a new email message in mail.app

I installed Chrome browser, had it as the default browser and now have changed it back to Safari.

When i choose Shift+Command+I now, it opens chrome and creates an email message in gmail.

I have deleted my gmail account from mail.app, set my default browser to Safari.

I want the old behavior back.

I can not figure out how to do this.

anybody?

Hi Marty ...

Quit Safari.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences

Move the com.apple.mail.plist file from the Preferences folder to Desktop.

Relaunch Safari. From the File menu click Mail Link to This Page

If that helped, move that .plist file to the Trash. If not, move it back to the Preferences folder.

If that didn't work, go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

Try again.

Helps to tell us which Mac OS X you have installed !! 🙂

~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.

For Lion v10.7.x: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

I am using OS Version 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

None of your suggestions worked.

I even deleted Chrome.app

After I did that I tried Safari to email a link.

A dailog box appeared that said:

An email message can't be created to send the link because Safari can't find an email application.

The fix to this problem that I found elsewhere on the discussion boards, is to go to Mail.app and even though it says that mail.app is the default email reader in mail prefrences, you have to re-select it, by clicking on the tab and find mail.app in the applications folder.

And that fixed it.....
