Hi i am having the new iPad delivered tomorrow and would like some advice on restoring my iPad 2 to factory settings as im passing it on to a relative.
I will back up the ipad2 to my iTunes so I can sync my new one in iTunes but would it be best if I connected the iPad2 to a PC which has iTunes on it
and do the factory restore on there.
Any advice will be most welcome

You have two options:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings.
OR
Plug it in to iTunes, click on it under DEVICES, and click Restore. Let it restore, then select Set Up as New iPad when prompted in iTunes.

Hi If I take the 2nd option should I just restore it and let the person I am giving to set it up as a new iPad so that it can be registered in their name in iTunes & would it be best to do it on the PC rather than on my MacBook pro which I will use with my new iPad etc.

I have a similar issue but not the same. I'm giving my iPad to a friend who's in a nursing home. She wants my apps and Kindle books and my music and videos. How do I give her these things and remove everything that is private to me alone? I'm getting the new iPad tomorrow and I want to start using it right away.

Use the first option he gave you and it will be set up where they can initialize it then sync and personalized it.
You can't, the only way she can keep your apps, books, etc. (which you really don't have the right to give away) would be to leave the iPad linked to your iTunes and Amazon accounts.
Hi I think your friend will have to download her own apps etc because she will need to register with iTunes to be able

So if I choose the first option I don't have to use iTunes at all just restore from the iPad settings menu ?
Will it be just as when I purchased it with the basic apps etc?

Yes she can use them until she goes home so long as you leave your accounts on there. No, she cannot transfer any of it to her iTunes account, sorry.
Ok. That's fine with me. I'll tell her how to delete my stuff when she gets home. All she has to do is reset it, right?
I think you will have to restore the iPad and then give her it and then she will have to create her own iTunes account and then purchase her own apps because the apps on your iPad are synced through your own iTunes and the apps are in your library
