Plugged in & Charging but not Recognized

Okay, so my computer was getting buggy so I was forced to make a New User on my computer, and delete the old one, all the files were saved to the NEW USER. However, each time I attempt to plug my iTouch into the computer, nothing seems to be popping up in iTunes indicating that it's already synced with another computer. I've tried uninstalling the Apple Mobile Device Software, as well as iTunes, but it hadn't worked. I'm really lost and not sure what to do. I have also tried looking at my Device Manager, and Apple Mobile Device was nowhere to be found even after I had re-installed iTunes. Please support me in finding out how to fix this! Thanks ! 🙂

Okay, so I stole my brothers USB Connector, and that seems to be what was the problem. (Don't think I worded that right, but whatever) . It bothers me because the cord I had bought was brand new, and it's my brothers cord that works not mine! 😟

Have your tried another cable?

Have you looked carefully at the dock connector in the iPod for corroded, missing bent contacts or other abnormalities?

An Appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store might be in order.

Did you do everthing in the artiklce that Jay referenced? That includes removing and reinstalling all the Apple softer, not just iTunes, using the instructions provided in the link.

Yes, I did, and nothing seems to work. My iTouch 4th gen seems to charge, but there's no syncing prompt or anything..

Do you have another computer to try to help determine if you have a comnputer/cable/iPod problem?

Yes, I have my mothers Macbook Air, I plugged it in and the iTouch began charging, iTunes didn't open up.

Well, the thing is, before I switched user accounts on my computer, I was able to sync my iPod just fine, it is just now that it no longer works! I guess I will have to visit the Genius Bar...

Thanks for posting. After hours of checking, reinstalling and restarting, I changed the USB cable. Instant success!
