Q: Is anybody else getting a yellowish hue on their new iPad?

Hi guys, i need your help. I just got my new iPad today 4G+Wifi 64GB (white) and i am getting a distinct yellowish hue on my retina display. On my iPad 2 it is clearly much nicer and brighter in terms of the resolution. I was making the two comparisons by using safari and just opening up a blank white page with the brightness tuned to the max on both, i could tell the new iPad is yellowish and the iPad 2 is white and crisp. I mean is apple kidding me? Retina display with more pixels results in yellowish crappy resolution than my iPad 2? Im not sure if i should return this junk back to the apple store or if they do replace me will they give me back the same crappy display. I am stuck in a middle right now as my authorised reseller is currently out of stock and when i called apple support today they were telling me i would have to wait much longer if they have to ship it back to me. This is really ridiculous and i hope if anyone shares the same problem do drop me a reply.

Thanks.

I received the new replacement yesterday, has the upper left corner tinted yellow / brown. I asked for a refund.

It's a shame...... this hardware issues are inadmissible.

What's with all these Apple LCD screens and the dark yellowish corner?? I thought the light from LCD panels was suppose to be a lot more even

This is troubling. I took all my new ipads back except one (my wifes).

I'll wait for the next batch and hope they're better! If not Apple will get them back too.

I returned my new iPad 3 days after receiving it on launch day. It was a horrible mess with yellow, green, pink and grey splotches. I decided to wait several months before trying again.

Today, I hold in my hands what I consider to be a pristine new iPad. I purchased it at Best Buy. It is a DY serial number, week 18 (May) manufacture.  There is absolutely no discoloration anywhere, the whites are pure white, and the screen is just gorgeous.

Have hope, good ones are out there!

    See there are good one!

What are the details of your ipad please? Black, white, wifi only, what GB?

    Thanks.

I also noticed the white ipads had more of a yellow/dark corner tint compared to the black ones.

My dad has one that is without the yellowish hue. His unit has great white balance. I on the other hand am not so fortunate. Returned mine and got back another 3 replacements that has the same if not worse yellowish hue. Hopefully, the fourth replacement unit will be ok. Sigh.

Hi Dennislaska!  Sorry, I should have included that info. It is a black 32gb wifi.  I am still in shock at how excellent it is after seeing the first one I got. I hope Apple finds out what is causing the huge disparity in these new iPads.

Why do you exchange your iPads multiple times?

go back to your old iPad or buy iPad  2 , wait  3-4 months at least until we see this issue goes away.

Microsoft 360 xbox RROD lasted something like 1.5 years or more before they fixed it, hopefully Apple cam fix this in few months.

I am not buying unless I hear every purchase made is perfect and no more flaws to be seen.

Whoever asked why do we get bad screens, well, when Apple makes like 1.2 million a day , what do you expect?

I am really bummed right now.  My new iPad, 32 GB black wi-fi only, had a yellow/green tint to everything.  I could not get used to it, it was horrible.  So I went to the genius bar and they said I could do an exchange, but my model was not in stock.  So I call back each day and finally today they have another in the store.  I do my exchange, and this one has the SAME EXACT ISSUE!!  </3

I think I might just get a refund and wait a few weeks.  This is severely disappointing.  How could Apple let their quality control sink so low???

There are great ones out there, don't give up. And when you see how the screen should look it's amazing. It looks like some of the better ones are recently made.

    Good luck

I'm giving up on Apple.  All three of the ones I had in my possession are going back today and next week.  The customer service with Apple is also seeming to break down.  Hours on the phone to be transferred and being told they are going above and beyond.  This just isn't the Apple of Job's era clearly anymore.

On the bright side I will have $2400 more in my account, but sadly no iPads.  If there are good ones out there, they are clearly eluding my household.  Even FED EX when I went to drop the two off today for refund said they are seeing many of them being sent back.  So clearly, it isn't just me despite what any "genius" or tech support rep is saying.  I am very envious of you Dennis that you got a good one.

I'm giving up too. It's a shame. Yesterday I got the xxth exchange and it's even worse. This time the display is far too dark, you can hardly read in normal daylight - not to mention the yellowish corners. Production week 17. I am fed up. Imagine they might launch a MacBook Pro with retina display...

Got my second replacement earlier this week. Week 1, believe it or not. Color temp is warmer than my iPad 2, but the screen is uniformly bright. Not going to fuss over this anymore. This one is a keeper.

MacBook Pro's and Air's still manufactured by Quanta Corporation and therefore is almost perfect. If Apple will move it to the Foxconn's factories - we're in big trouble, even if there will be no Retina screens. The main problem of Apple is huge popularity of their products. It's sounds strange, but it is real. Apple need to increase the volumes and Foxconn in China is the only company which can make such a huge orders. Trying to produce huge  volumes for Apple, Foxconn hires more and more low qualified chinese workers. It leads to terrible quality as it clearly shown with the last iPads. Typical story about egg and chicken.
