Q: Is anybody else getting a yellowish hue on their new iPad?

Hi guys, i need your help. I just got my new iPad today 4G+Wifi 64GB (white) and i am getting a distinct yellowish hue on my retina display. On my iPad 2 it is clearly much nicer and brighter in terms of the resolution. I was making the two comparisons by using safari and just opening up a blank white page with the brightness tuned to the max on both, i could tell the new iPad is yellowish and the iPad 2 is white and crisp. I mean is apple kidding me? Retina display with more pixels results in yellowish crappy resolution than my iPad 2? Im not sure if i should return this junk back to the apple store or if they do replace me will they give me back the same crappy display. I am stuck in a middle right now as my authorised reseller is currently out of stock and when i called apple support today they were telling me i would have to wait much longer if they have to ship it back to me. This is really ridiculous and i hope if anyone shares the same problem do drop me a reply.

Thanks.

    @usmaaak

How do you know ? And how have you reached to this conclusion that all DYTHP are week 20 and all DYTHQ are week 21-?

    From this:

    http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html/

I don't know if this really follows logic, but that means that R would be week 22, and S week 23.  But who knows how they change it all up.

I think that the DM factory uses DMPH.

I already know about this URL, I am saying have you like inspected and personally seen atleast 10 units of DYTHP and DYTHQ to be able to reach to this conclusion and say so confidently the above thing.

Well.  I looked up a bunch in Target.  Ten of each?  Probably not.

I read somewhere that for the iPhone, the first two characters are the factory.  The third character is the year of manufacture, and the fourth and fifth are the week.  But that's the iPhone.  Who knows if they use the same scheme for the iPad.  It would make sense if they did, but then when did any of this make any sense.

So I withdraw what I said.  the P and Q mean absolutely nothing at all.  Please ignore my former posts.

Ok. after 2 days of use and some internet browsing in the evening I noticed exactly the same issue on my iPad.

It is now my 3rd one and I do really not know what i should do.

1st: three dead pixels, dust under the screen, scratches on the backside and blue was purple

2nd: two dead pixels, half of the screen in portrait mode was tinted yellow/brown

3rd: like showed by "kingmohd" the lower part is greenish and the upper part is pinkish

so, three iPad 3: and 3 different types of issues.

Are the "perfect" ones really out there ???

I'll return the 3rd one now again, within my 14days-period and to be honest,

i was so happy to get the new iPad when it was announced in March this year.

But now i do not want to spend my money in such a lottery game any longer...

Just don't buy until October , then we will see if faulty ones get rare or not.

New iPads will be by March, but then again, don't buy until October again, this way you won't get any of the faulty first production ones.

So who is going to buy Retina macbooks ?

After taking my my third one back, and it being replaced by a brown boxed iPad which was manufactured in January, I decided to sell it as it was out of its return policy. I took a gamble and purchased a brand new one which was manufactured week 20 DM factory. The screen has yellow bits (writing from my iPad now I can see it on the keyboard) in one corner it is pinkish, in another blue/greenish.

I will be taking it back for a full refund and I am giving up on this joke of an apple product. Never again will I open a new product with new technology and be confident it is good quality. I feel I have bought a tablet worth £50 not £450.

I will probably buy a MacBook air instead. Something that has been produced for a while so is more likely to be ok. I don't think I have the need for a tablet anyway.

All I have to say is good luck to those buying a retina MacBook, 3 times the price of an iPad!

The ongoing issues with this device are unbeliveable. I am really curious how the panels will turn out on the MBPs! Mine is not perfect and I encountered bleeding on mine by now but I will keep it. I can live with these issues as long as my perception is not flawed. Unlucky me with the first perfect one which had a tiny dust particle.

The Bleeding thing that you are talking about, are you talking about your MBP or the iPad ? Firstly MBP are not made by FOXCONN there is a different manufacturer and assembler who does it. I havent heard so far of a MBP having any kind of tints ? But the world is very huge...so you never know

Now, this is most crucial question for Retina MBP. If Apple, trying to keep the same price level and at the same time, compensate bigger expences, moved Retina MBP from Quanta to Foxconn assembly lines, then we have to see a lot of replies from "happy" users about screen and  assembly quality. Lets wait for the first serial numbers of Retina MBP to see if it can be true.

They haven't moved it to Foxconn ! Right ? They may, to gain on the price point. Well, that is a different discussion altogether. But as of now I dont think FOXCONN is also into making Macbook Pro !

No. I meant I have slight bleeding on my iPad. Lets see what the first users of the MBPs have to say

Why do you think Apple haven't moved Retina MBP to Foxconn? Do you really suppose that all of MBP should be assembled at the same factory? Just to remember - we haven't seen yet any serial number of Retina MBP.

Updated MBP line (without Rethinas) assembly could be continued on Quanta factories. At the same time, to reduce costs, Retina MBP may be (or not) manufactured on Foxconn factories. Let's see the serials.
