Q: Is anybody else getting a yellowish hue on their new iPad?

Hi guys, i need your help. I just got my new iPad today 4G+Wifi 64GB (white) and i am getting a distinct yellowish hue on my retina display. On my iPad 2 it is clearly much nicer and brighter in terms of the resolution. I was making the two comparisons by using safari and just opening up a blank white page with the brightness tuned to the max on both, i could tell the new iPad is yellowish and the iPad 2 is white and crisp. I mean is apple kidding me? Retina display with more pixels results in yellowish crappy resolution than my iPad 2? Im not sure if i should return this junk back to the apple store or if they do replace me will they give me back the same crappy display. I am stuck in a middle right now as my authorised reseller is currently out of stock and when i called apple support today they were telling me i would have to wait much longer if they have to ship it back to me. This is really ridiculous and i hope if anyone shares the same problem do drop me a reply.

Thanks.

Why do you think Apple haven't moved Retina MBP to Foxconn? Do you really suppose that all of MBP should be assembled at the same factory? Just to remember - we haven't seen yet any serial number of Retina MBP.

Updated MBP line (without Rethinas) assembly could be continued on Quanta factories. At the same time, to reduce costs, Retina MBP may be (or not) manufactured on Foxconn factories. Let's see the serials.

Because there has been no news as yet of any MBP coming out of a Foxconn Unit

From the pictures and videos New iPad also looked as Fantastic piece of Human Creation. But now we have pretty good example of what Foxconn workers can do to change "Wow!" to "Arghh!!". Never ever impulse buying on Apple products, especially on Day One, at least for me.

Yes so it will eventually come out....We will see then how does it turn out to be. BTW I personally have never heard of any MBP having any tints or screen issue. It only seems with the iPad's and iPhone's.

You have never heard it because in 2009 Apple moved Macbooks from Foxconn to Quanta factories, just due of quality issues (dust, hairs under glas, scratches e.t.c.). Now, it's opposite turn. Let's see how Foxconn workers can "improve" new Retinas

I am afraid when we read the reviews all journalists will be praising how beautiful the retina display is on mbp but when you actually go and buy it, you face the hard truth ....like we all did with the iPad

I even gave it a month to hear if any issues rise, the media was silent unlikethe antenna gate thing

There are a lot of people who just don't see the issues with the screen, or who consider them minor enough that it doesn't matter.  I'm definitely not one of those people.  I lost count of how many I've had and returned.  At least I've had my trusty iPad 2 through it all.

Given all the pixels involved in a retina display, I'm wondering what the viewing angle will be like on the MBP with retina display.  The new iPad suffers from viewing angle issues as it is.  The MBP will be bigger.

I know it's just a photo, but it does not bode well for the MBP Retina...

I went to the local apple store yesterday and looked at the new retina MBP.  The unit is certainly amazing.  Screen looked very uniform, didn't see any defects on the display units.  I did want to see why the inertia scrolling was a choppy slide show when you flicked down the screen.  Didn't know how to shut the integrated video card off and use the discreet one and so I asked a store employee.  They didn't know and asked an expert at the store.  10 min later I get a employee that walks up and says did you figure it out yet. I said I did and he said let me get one other employee and we'd like you to show us.  Went to energy and turned off graphic switching.   This didn't help the pages flow any more smoothly either. The graphics card selected I think is inadequate for the pixel density on the unit.  I'd recommend waiting till the next generation of hardware is in.

Also looked at the units on display for the new iPad.  They all had a dark left side for the most part, some had color inconsistencies. So, good visit. Staff were inadequate as usual, and I will save me some money in the process.

Regarding the MBP.  That could just be a driver issue, right?  I know that video cards are very dependent on good quality drivers.  At least in Windows they are.

Going to the Apple store is fun.  I love looking at the Macbook Air.  All the new iPads in the Apple store near me have screen quirks as well.  And they all have the magical disappearing WiFi when you touch the area to the right of the home button.  Last time I was in there, I checked the serials, and they're all very early models of the new iPad.  Weeks 3, 4, and 5.

My iPad (Week 18) is also yellow display with pick on corner. I decide to wait for a couple of months for swap it.

Hope Apple will resolve this problem soon.

Hey I have bought a new iPad(32gb+cellular) on launch day here in india. The top left corner of the display is slightly yellowish compared to the whole display. Also the device runs hot!   What should I do? Is there any refund policy of Apple in India and why Apple dont have any stores in India yet as there are so many mac lovers here,

and Apple premium resellers dont provide any good experience. Ateast Apple should start online stores in India, I think that will be better compared to buying from premium resellers.

I just wanted to quickly share my experience with iPad 3 screen uniformity issues. In Landscape mode, I had green/yellow/dark tint in upper left quarter and pink/red tint every where else. When viewing PDF documents, the white background was colorful and distracting (similar to the pictures on page 42). After a week of trying to convince myself it was minor, I just returned it. I did not go the exchange route since I read all week long how the problem is very prevalent right now. Also, the display model at the store (Best Buy) was showing the same problem.

Anyways, I found this thread yesterday and saw a few pages back that someone had success at Target. I bought one there last night and was expecting the worse, but to my surprise it looks like I got a good one! The screen is uniform. So my advice to everyone with this problem, just exchange it. Try a different store (especially Target) if possible ...

    Good luck.
