My new iPad (3) has frozen twice already

I got the new iPad (aka iPad 3) at 1pm today. It's 10pm and it's already frozen twice -- both times while it was locked. The screen was still kind of "on" (I could tell some blue or black was activated and not quite off all the way). I had to reset both times.

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Well, as far as I know, nothing. I've been trying to figure out something with messages and it's on a 2-minute lock, so I am using it often and unlocking it often. It just froze again, third time 10:43pm.

I just keep going into Settings and Messages and that's it, and it will freeze. I think 2 out of the 3 times, it has frozen when I've tried to unlock it...the slide graphic button wouldn't slide.

EDIT: FOURTH TIME, while typing this message, I was waiting for it to re-set. I just tried to unlock again after re-starting and the "Slide to Unlock" button is frozen again! My prediction is that it will go into the dark blue screen again...Yikes.

I had similar issues. My iPad 3 was freezing and not fully syncing items. I spent hours resetting, restoring, deleting backups, and on different computers. Funny thing, my wife's iPad 3 was fine. I eventually called Apple and FedEx'd the iPad back to them for a refund. And promptly visited BestBuy which luckily had just received stock and has shown no issues that the previous iPad did.

Cliffs: Replace your iPad. It's defective.

Thanks for the info. The first two times I restored it, I wanted to see if it would work without restoring as new. I restored it from new and since then, it's been a day I think, and it has not yet frozen! So, I think it has been fixed. I will certainly be on guard while the warranty is still valid. I cancelled my Genius Bar appointment since it was no longer happening. I'll post again if it comes back, which I hope it doesn't!

EDIT: The iPad has gone completely psycho. We're talking blue screen of death, crazy half blue screen of death, then a whole lot of freezing, freezing in a dark screen that caused overheating, more freezing after that. Lots of re-setting attempts. Did get it back on long enough to back it up (whether or not that ends up being a good idea to restore).

Genius appt tomorrow morning. Really hoping I get a replacement ASAP. Very sad about it!

Last month i got a new ipad 2. It worked fine for 10 days then it started to show the same problems as yours. I would really really appreciate it if someone can provide me with a solution (if any).

Note that i did all the common stuff like major resetting it, restoring it,... it simply FREEZE.

I heard the ipad 3 has a heating problem, it freezes in hot weather. Any idea ?
