how to show items in the menu bar
I'd like to know how to add and/or delete items from the menu bar.

Could you be more specific?
(You can't control the menus themselves; those are controlled by the application. Over on the right hand side are the "Menubar extras", which are installed by various applications if you tell them to. Not all applications will do it, though. You can delete them by command-dragging them off of there, or via some preference settings.)
Do you mean right click and drag them (cmd & press down on track Pad)
Yes....there is a menu bar at the top of the screen in which sit icons of things like volume, the date, the language, etc. When there are many of them, sometimes you can't see them all. I want to rearrange the order of some of them so that I can always see my Dropbox icon for example. If Apple kept iDisk (!!!!) that worked so well, I wouldn't be worrying about Dropbox. đ
Thanks...that suggestion helped to get rid of some and allowed the Dropbox icon to move over a bit. Perhaps it now won't be an issue. There are others in there that don't have to be there but I fear if I remove them that the apps then won't be working.
As above, Right click and move them, no just pop them into the waste bin.i
That would be CMD+click
I really do appreciate this help and, I hate to be dense about this. But, if I right click or CMD+click, I can't move them around. It seems to be either take them off or leave them in the place they are. Am I supposed to be able to rearrange them by using CMD+click and, if so, how?
Thats the one knew there was a name for it đ
press on the cmd button, then drag them with the track pad keeping cmd key pressed
Third party app icons may or may not behave like they are supposed to with respect to command-drag. In my experience, they generally don't. Apple's app icons behave this way.

CT is right, most non-apple icons do not move. You must have a terrrible lot of icons on your menu bar.
