The New iPad will not sync all photo's

I picked up the new iPad yesterday at the Apple store and am having a problem getting it to sync all of my photo library.

Im using iTunes on Windows 7 to sync the "My Pictures" folder to the iPad.

It will sync some but not all of the folders in the "My Pictures". I have deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, that did not help.

I have 2 iPhones and 2 older iPad 1's which sync the photo's just fine.

I seem to have at least temporarily fixed the issue on my iPad. Basically I deleted the iPhoto app on my iPad. I was then able to sync any photos I wanted. Possibly iPhoto on the iPad and iTunes share some direcotry information and that somehow interferes with syncing.

The complete steps to my temp fix:

- Deleted iPhoto on the iPad

- Synced my iPad so that it removed all my photos

- Deleted the iPod Photo Cache

- Synced my iPad with the photo folders I wanted to import. I started synching one folder at a time and when that appeared to be working, I synced all the rest. All the syncs were sucessful.

- Re-downloaded iPhoto to my iPad. When I started iPhoto it did it's "build database" thing, and that all worked and I could view my photos in iPhoto.

So I got all my photos on my iPad that I want. Time will tell if iPhoto for the iPad and iTunes will continue to have issue with my new iPad -- whether I will be able to sync without losing photos, or to add additional photos or folders.

I was also having trouble with the basic Photos app and the iTunes sync/transfer process. I was experiencing the same symptoms as everyone else. For me, delting the iPhoto app resolved my problems with the basic Photos app and syncing. That info might help someone else lurking on this thread. And as others have stated here (and in other threads on the web) there seems to be other ways to coax the sycning process to occur.

Same problem here. I've spent much of the day fighting with this, and I'm glad to see I'm not alone. I've had more success one folder at a time, but very few folders fully sync. Deleting the iPod Photo Cache doesn't help.

The thing that seems odd to me is that the iTunes sync stops abrupty - no error message, no "Finishing sync" stage.

I had the same issue. I came up with a work around until they get it fixed. I also attempted to sync selected folders from my computer to my Ipad 3. Only 3 of the 8 picture folders would sync to my new Ipad 3 ( noted after sync, that only a few photos went into these 3 folders, had to redo these 3 folders as process noted below) . I had same issue as noted above. The sync would start and then stop. The selected folder which was syncing would disappear from the Ipad 3. .

My work around: I created a new folder in my Pictures file, copied and pasted the photos in new folder.

I entered the Pictures folder on my computer, I made a new folder and named new folder IPAD3 ABCD

( ABCD was specific name of contents in folder), I then copied photos from original file that would not sync and pasted them in the new folder named IPADABCD. I did this one at a time. I went back and re-synced one new folder at a time. I only had to redo the above list one time for one folder that did not sync after doing this. But all my photo folders are now on Ipad3.

Hope this helps.

It would seem its not the size. I found that even simply rotating the image 90 degress and re syncing, it synced. Then rotating it back (no change in size) and it sync'd.

So, it seems like its just a matter or editing the photo somehow and have it resave is enough.

This only happens on iPad 3. I have setup new iPad 2, 2 x iPad 3, 1 iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S tonight, and its only the iPAd 3's that have the issue.
