The New iPad will not sync all photo's

I picked up the new iPad yesterday at the Apple store and am having a problem getting it to sync all of my photo library.

Im using iTunes on Windows 7 to sync the "My Pictures" folder to the iPad.

It will sync some but not all of the folders in the "My Pictures". I have deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, that did not help.

I have 2 iPhones and 2 older iPad 1's which sync the photo's just fine.

I did all the clean install, reboots, delete iPode cache folders, starting to sync from an empty photo folder to clean the iPad, then progressively add more photos.

It synced more photos than before, but still could not do it all.

I suspect there is a new protocol for the ipad 3g which prevent proper sync/acknowledgement. That is something Apple keep changing/evolving to counter the engineers who do manage the reverse engineering of it...

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for the iPad 3g first firmeware update, just a little bit more patience, it must be around the corner 😕

Nothing will happen. Same issue as before. Nothing was fixed. It is so sad, apple does not get the solution... photos in the wrong folder, missing photos, iTunes forgets that previous devices were synchronized and so on... Bad, very bad. I do still have to sync every single folder for the iPad 3 step by step. But: After all that I cannot sync to the iPhone 4S. Apple shall fix that issue very fast because these are HOURS that we spend for trying out possible solutions (which just apple can deliver!)

I have tried 10.6.1.7 today and it has not fixed the sync photos error I have.

I had been making progress this week by gradually putting more and more folders in the sync and have now got 4355 out of 18,000 on the device, prior to today I had added 40 new folders and the sync failed overnight with error 50 so I was pleased to see the new Itunes version this am! However I was recommended to check the edit / preferences / devices - reset sync history box and sync which I did as well as deleting the Photo cache from my WIndows 7 pc. I now have the same amount of pictures with no new ones added and the pictures in all my folders are from different folders so all my previous success has been knocked back to stage 1.

Very frustrating, I am now trying to sync the same photos to my wifes Ipad 2 - fingers crossed this still works.

@Richard: If you delete the photo cache folder and then just sync to iPhone or iPad 2 and earlier, it should work perfectly. But at the moment you sync to the iPad 3 everything becomes crap... even when finishing sync with iPad 3 and then sync to iPhone or iPad 2: Problems, problems, problems. If you sync first to the iPhone and THEN folder by folder by folder on the iPad 3, it works. But after that you are not able to sync to the iPhone again, because iTunes forgot that you have synced photos with it... very frustrating and apple should fix that... it´s time.

As I already said: If you delete the photo cache folder and then sync to your ipad 2 or earlier or iPhone 4S or earlier, everything works fine. All the time! But: If you then try to sync with the iPad 3, the problem starts. And after sync with iPad also the Sync with iPhone and so on do not work anymore... unless you delete the photo cache again and sync with iPhone.

iTunes also "forgets" that you have previously sync with the iPhone after sync with iPad 3... but well, that was told 1000 times here... it makes no sense to do more posts here. WE can do NOTHING. Just apple can. And you guys have to call the hotline so that they are under pressure to react...

Been on the phone Apple a few times this week & working through things slowly. They told me that iTunes 10.6.1 does not contain any fixes for this issue, just some device connectivity fixes. But they have said they think it is a photo caching issue with the new iPad. When we went through a few things everything synced fine if the ipad is cleanly restored with no apps etc, but they do not know the exact cause. I will be sending them some system & diagnostic files from before & after restore & see what the difference is.

I do have more photos on the iPad now than ever before but by no means all.

Think it is just going to a waiting game
