The New iPad will not sync all photo's

I picked up the new iPad yesterday at the Apple store and am having a problem getting it to sync all of my photo library.

Im using iTunes on Windows 7 to sync the "My Pictures" folder to the iPad.

It will sync some but not all of the folders in the "My Pictures". I have deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, that did not help.

I have 2 iPhones and 2 older iPad 1's which sync the photo's just fine.

I have found that often the problem with iTunes not syncing ipad photo folders is the DIMENSIONS (not file size?) of the photos. As others have suggested, as long as I RESIZE my photos and keep the longest dimension less than 3000 pixels, pics sync just fine. If the longest dimension is greater than 3000 pixels, iTunes will hang and never finish syncing. It's dumb, but it is what it is. I'm using an iPad Pro with latest iOS and syncing from a folder (with a single level of sub-folders) on a Windows 10 laptop via iTunes.

MMeador,

I'm having the same issue. New iPad, Windows 7, photo syncing issue even after deleting the iPod Photo Cache insessently to get it to sync all the way.

I got a little headway when I went through a chose only selected folder with a few photos in them, any folder with more than 100 photos it would stop syncing while copying the photos but THINK that all the photos were synced.

Deleting the iPod Photo Cache only make the issue repeat. Often, thumb nails and photos don't properly match, even if the photos were copied.

There is some sort of file size limitation. My full sized jpegs won't all copy over either. I re-exported them 2048 on the longest side and that worked. 4096 didn't work but 3072 did. I'm sticking with that until someone figures out the problem.

I've read about the limitations of iPhoto for the iPad bt nothing on the built in photo app.

Maybe, although I always thought there was a threshold for each device below which it wouldn't have to create an "optimized" (re-sized) version. You'd think this would be a high number for the New iPad, giving the screen resolution. For example, my re-sized (3072 on the long edge) pictures aren't being optimized before tranfer -- they're just copying over and they work just fine.

Who knows. I just got off the phone with a tier-2 AppleCare rep (I found this thread while we were on the phone), and he indicated he would pass this thread along to the engineers. It's a pretty obvious bug somewhere in the mix, and one I suspect they'll be all over right away, given the attractiveness of the new iPad to photography types.

Although I use Lightroom, I don't synch my photos on my iPad via Lightroom as I don't let Lightroom have complete control over my photo folders. I simply sync my photos from my folders.

I don't believe that some sort of size limitation is an issue. When I try to sync the folders I want, some folders sync comptetely, some folders sync only a few photos, some are empty. For the folders that sync completely, it syncs photos of all sizes. Similarly sized photos in other folders will not sync.

That's what I do as well, clarsonx -- I export from Lightroom to a set of "Publish" folders, and sync those with the iPad. What I had been seeing when trying to sync images without re-sizing them as noted above was very "erratic" behavior. Some images would sync, others would not. Wasn't always consistent -- I'd sync a folder with 150 images, and sometimes 10 would transfer, sometimes 15, sometimes 2. No rhyme or reason to it. Once I re-exported the images at 3072 x 2035, all 150 transferred perfectly for the first time.

Maybe. But I try syncing one folder at a time, including folders with only 50 or so photos, and the problem still occurs. And if you try to resync the incomplete folder without adding any new folders, iTunes thinks that folder is completely synced and doesn't add photos. And the photos that were synced are of varying sizes, as are the photos that are not synced. It's not like iTunes simply picks out photos of 5M or less for syncing and leave bigger photos untouched. It is too random.
