How can I open a cab file on my macbook pro?
I'm new to the Mac world and I'm having trouble opening a medical grade CD that contains CAB files/images. Can anyone help me out?

Cab files are compressed (windows) files, the paid version of Stuffit can open them and you may be able to use them if you have compatible programs on your Mac, do you know what format the images are in.
I tried to download Stuffit Expander, but got this message once I tried to install: You can't open the application Stuffit Expander Installer bc Power PC applications are no longer supported. What exactly does this mean?

More info is required. As a rule, medical imaging uses the DICOM format; the .cab files you are seeing could be the install archive for a DICOM viewer. Try OsiriX
OsiriX

There are other DICOM viewers for Mac OS X:
iRad
<http://irad.sourceforge.net/>
Escape Medical Viewer
I should be rather surprised if the images were in .cab files. If you can't access the CD with any of these viewers, check with the imaging dep't where the CD was written about the format was used. My bet is DICOM.
Some things that claim to be able to open these Microsoft files.
In no particular order...
Here are some suggestions:

Stuffit Expander (a free download) should do the job tho'.
I have no idea what format they are in. How can I find out?
It sounds like you downloaded a version for Stuffit which is not Lion compatible. Are you sure you got the right one?
Use the AppStore to get Stuffit Expander, then you'll be sure to have a version that works.
By opening them
We are a Mac only family and so is our Doctor. The wife had an MRI in that format and the Dr said the CD was useless to him because nothing would allow them to open it with the correct information.
