It's as simple as that -- I connect my new iPad to my Digital AV Adapter and I receive the error "This Accessory is Not Supported". My older iPad 2 has no problems with this Digital AV Adapter, so I know the Digital AV Adapter is OK.
Has anyone else seen this problem? Has anyone else done this same thing and NOT had a problem?

I had the same message, but still hooked it up to the hotel TV to see and everything worked fine! Tried it with Keynote, YouTube, etc. The only problem was that the TV's resolution was less than the iPad! 🙂
I'm having the same issue. The same message does not appear on my iPad 1.

I called Apple support to see if they can help me fix it, but unfortunately they were unable to and advised me to take my iPad in to the Apple Store to possibly get a replacement. I pre-ordered my iPad so I wouldnt have to deal with going up there. The closest Apple Store is over an hour away and I just don't have time to do that... hopefully a new update will come out and fix this issue.
The old DV Adapter was rated at 780L and the new Ipad is 1080p. You will need to buy a new adapter (it is in a box unlike the previous one in a bag) to handle the new resolution. The price is $39.95.

Delorean is exactly right -- I picked up a NEW Digital AV Adapter at the Apple Store yesterday and it works perfectly with the iPad 3.
The dumb thing is that the folks at the Apple Store didn't know about this -- I made them unbox the new adapter and test it with my iPad 3 before I purchased it, just to make sure it would work. You'd think that Apple would have documented this somewhere easy to find.
I'm curious if anyone had the same results that I mentioned earlier -- got the "not supported" message" but the adaper still worked fine after clicking okay?
Since I've returned home I still get the same message, but the adapter works fine with two different HD televisions here.
The video from my iPad 3 cuts out with the adapter. I called apple and they said that it's not supported however, the video should not cut out. Luckily, they are going to send me a replacement adapter that is the newer model! It may have helped that I purchased the adapter only 2 months ago and that I told the rep I purchased the adapter with the intention of using it with the new iPad.

Tap okay to dismiss the message. The adapter should work anyway.
Make sure that you are buying this adapter in the Apple Store not in any other place. Secondly make sure it is the boxed adapter versus the poly bagged adapter. There is a difference; ipad and iPad2 were 780L and the iPad3 is 1080i. The old adapters will not work. Fianlly have the Apple Store guy unbox it and try it on your iPad, there still could be a problem with the iPad connector itself.

I bought it in the apple store, and it is the boxed adapter. I bought it when I bought the new ipad, so I figured the salesman had given me the new one. How can I check it's 1080i and not 780L? Thanks for helping me and answering!
i'm also thinking to buy an adapter thank God i didn't buy at walmart which is much cheaper 🙂. but i'm also thinking about the apple ipad dock did anyone happened to have one? i want something that can charge while the adapter is connected to tv. thanks
