PS3, Nat Type 3

Hi there

I simply can't get rid of nat type 3! It's driving me crazy, with slow download speed! In order to get nat type 2, i need to add/open TCP and UDP ports.

According to sony, i need these ports:

TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480, 5223, 8080

UDP: 3478, 3479

Since I got an airport extreme, I followed this guide:

UPNP is enabled on the PS3, and I know none of apple's routers support that.

Have I missed something? How do I get nat type 2?

Suggest that you set up the Apple router in Bridge Mode. Then be sure to power cycle the entire network.

That means powering everything completely off...no standby, etc.

Leave everything off for a few minutes

Power up the modem/router first and let it run a minute by itself

Then power up the Apple product the same way

Continue starting devices one at a time until everything is powered back up

This happens a lot with DSL providers, as previously stated you have a double NAT causing your issue. I have century link with a zyxtel modem in my home and had the same issue. I did the opposite and set the modem to bridged mode and that fixed it. Just be sure to dhcp release before you bridge otherwise you'll could be waiting a couple hrs before your provider refreshes and your Internet works. Hope this helps.
