slowed download time

My download time seems to have increase considerably, and I do not know why. I used to be able to download a movie in an hour that now takes 8 hours!! I have installed mackeeper, I don't know if that is the problem. Can anyone help?

Yes it is!

MacKeeper is highly invasive malware* that can de-stablize your operating system. It is also unethically marketed and a rip-off.

Further opinion on it and how to uninstall MacKeeper malware:

Do NOT download or use the ‘MacKeeper uninstaller’ from the Zeobit site, as this will cause even more damage to your operating system.

Check your download speed at www.speedtest.net.

Uninstall Mac Keeper.

Ensure you are using a known-good DNS server as advised in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3408.

Use Network Utility to ping www.google.com. Do you get any packet loss?

Use Network Utility to ping your router number (found in System Preferences > Network > Wifi > Advanced > TCP/IP). Do you get any packet loss?

Start with those steps.
