Does iPad3 have a magnetic on/off switch?

I have a Targus cover with magnetic on/off but won't work with iPad 3. It will work with iPad 2. Noticed iPad 3 doesn't have magnetic switch option in setting like iPad 2. What am I missing here?

iPad 2, Ipad3

The magnetic switch option is there. I could not find it until I actually took a small magnet and ran it across the area where the magnet switch is supposed to be located. (I was trying to figure out why my rooCase that I bought would not activate the sleep/wake function). When I ran it across "frame", I heard a click, went to settings, and lo and behold, that option had magically appeared. The, I found out using the same magnet, that the magnet in the case is not in the exact right position to actually work.............bummer!!

Interesting observation. When I returned to the store they confirmed there was no magnetic unlock option. However, when they put a standard Mac cover on my device the magnetic option instantly appeared. Turns out I had a bad Targus. They replaced it with a different one and now it works fine.

That's because iOS typically doesn't display or provide menu options if they aren't relevant and usable; when the OS sees no magnet there it figures there is no need for the menu option.

Thank you for advice. I attached an official Apple Smart Cover and heard the click and the option appeared in the Settings...General dropdown menu as predicted.

Then I went back to Best Buy and trialled 5 consecutive Targus Versavu cases and the 6th was sucessful. This 3rd party cover/case must have issues related to magnet position or polarity.

Obviously, this is not an item you would want to order online 😉..........unless, of course, you like ordering, returning, ordering, returning, etc. The case I bought was "supposed" to work work, too.........but the magnet is in the wrong place. I kept it, since I like it and just decided to forego the awake/sleep function. I just do it manually.
