Poor wifi reception on new iPad

Flea that is where you are wrong. This is not the venue to let Apple know about problems. It shows how useless your posts are (you called me D-bag, you started the name calling), whiners and complainers are not directed to any specific person. But I digress.

The venue to let Apple know about technical problems is the 800 number on your ipad box little person. This forums are not monitored by Apple Mr. Flea. Is that name regarding your dog, or you have fleas yourself? You smell a little doggy yourself. I am kidding. I have to have some fun too. You already had yours, right?

Now, jsisti, yes, of course I can see Russia from my house, everytime I take off on my plane and get to around 10,000 feet or wait, maybe a little more.

It really bothers some people when you are told that answers are there for you but you have to find them. Look, people buy ipads and ereaders, do not even read the manual, and come to forums to find answers because they are too lazy, but my god, they just bought a device for reading!

Don't you see something a little wrong there.

I had to call a guy a morom because he was and he was just pulling all the other good people leg! Asking again and again that he needed to change the resolution of his ipad to match the resolution of his website. C'mon, even a child knew that that was bogus,ok?

So, jsisti, Alaska is a very big place and you probably never been here, but I hate to break it to you, there are truly places in Alaska where you actually can see Russia. Not from Wasilla, but for sure from little Diomede.

Since you have a working iPad with no connectivity issues, why are you here? I would suggest you take Flea's advice and look for another house to haunt.

I retired recently from the USA after 29 years. So I respect your service to our country. But I have to go now and respond to your ally jsisti because I believe she does not understand geography quite well.

But I want to inform you a bit about geography. You can see Russia from little Diomede island, which happens to be in the USA. You calling me dimwit only make you look like the fool you are because you doubt a fact that is there for everyone to know is true, except to you.

My HP laptop finds 12 wi-fi networks. The new iPad only gets 4 networks. All the networks with a weak signal are missing from the iPad.

Does it simply have a weaker reciever or is my iPad not working propperly?

Could someone with a working iPad check if it finds as many networks as a regular laptop?

The iPad doesn't list networks whose signal strength is too low for reliable communications. This is true on all the iPad versions.

I will probably keep mine then, even though I can do the death-grip on it. Which kinda ***** on a handheld device.

Just thought I'd update the list on my experience. I posted earlier as having two new iPads ( a Verizon and an ATT), both 64 Gb LTE models with this problem. On Saturday (yesterday), I visited a store in Charleston, SC to see what they would do (iPads were bought in NC). After getting the expected "We have not heard of this problem.." I demonstrated the Speedtest results and compared to my iPad1 in the store. After consulting with the store manager, Apple replaced both units. When I mentioned that Apple Support had told me on Friday that Apple did not have this issue in their "emerging issues" list (an internal Apple only notification system, apparently).. they said that these would be sent to corporate and reported as having the WiFi connectivity issue.

So I had a faint hope that the new iPads coming from a store in a different state might have a different lot number.. unfortunately though, they both have the same issue..

I believe that one reason some (many?) folks may not be seeing this problem may be that it is kind of insidious in that if you are in a strong signal or SNR environment, the connectivity issues are almost invisible.. it is only when you are some distance from the router that the problems and differences with other iDevices come into view. I think it is quite hard to demo this problem in the Apple store, given the overpowering signal there.. but step a few yards away, and you can show the problem, if it is present..

Heading back to yet a different Apple store tomorrow.... wish me luck...

Good luck - I was lucky, after 4 duds, got one that works in my bedroom! without any adjustment to my router!

How many networks does one need to connect to other than ones own? Who cares? If I can get a good connection to my network, that's what's important!

Have you ever been to a hotell? I plan to use mine while traveling.

actually, I was able to demo this problem twice in two different apple stores, on multiple ipad's including 2 brand new out of hte box ones, and 2 demo models, as well as my original ipad 3.

this very much is a problem even for areas with strong wifi..

I had the 1st Generation IPad with WIFI and 3G. I also have an Iphone with WIFI and 3G. I was able to use both on 3G at our Church. There is no WIFI at the church.

I purchased the New IPAD with WIFI and 4G, and have the data plan for 4G LTE. However I can’t get a signal at the Church with 4G (one bar), even though I can get 3G on my Iphone. This is bad news, plus I sold my 1st Generation IPad. Any suggestion about this problem?

You did check to make sure that cellular data is enabled? If it is and your account is active you may have a bad unit or you SIM may just need to be reseated. Check the SIM first. If after you reseat it and it still won't work it must be bad. This will be the first one I've heard of with bad cellular if it is. In the event it is bad just return it for another device. Gook luck!!
