May 3, 2012 5:38 PM in response to robertfromst helena islandby JimHdk,No use exchanging for a new iPad? Do you seriously think that all new iPads have the problem you describe?
I've used mine in several hotels, coffee shops, etc. with no problems. If you are having a problem contact Apple support and get a replacement.

May 3, 2012 9:34 PM in response to Yellowtail714by maggimia,Hey, I resent some of your post, I am not die hard Apple fan, this is my first iPad, do admit to owning several iPods and use them..but it's a Dell tower computer, a Toshiba laptop and tablet...and my new iPad is working great, gets great signal, here, where I take it and I do not work for Apple, i am 1 of those people working in a meat processing plant in central IL, am turning 56 this summer and finally let my 26 year old son get his hands on my iPad today, to try out the game I installed last night.
Mine is white, 64G, engraved on the back with something cute and funny, doubt if any of that makes a difference in WHY I got a new ipad that worked great out of the box and keeps on working. My only complaint is that the man I date and spend time with does NOT have wireless at his place yet. But I'm upgrading my router as it's 6+ years old and I want more speed and the 1 I now have will go to his place, so I can use my iPad there instead of his slow, slow old computer which suits him.
IF this iPad had any problems, I would have made a phone call, had it shipped back and a new one sent to me...no Apple stores close...Maggie in IL

May 3, 2012 9:59 PM in response to Razdadby xenon,Usually people only post difficulties. I haven't had any problems on my LTE model. I’ve had equal success when connnecting to both an Apple router and a Netgear. This has really been one of the most reliable products I've owned. Good luck with your purchase.

May 4, 2012 8:54 PM in response to stlsteveby HLynn76,I am going to get in on this too. My boyfriend bought me an ipad2 for Christmas (which I love and only have occasional wifi issues with). When he decided to get one, he purchased the new iPad and frequently has wifi connectivity issues -like every time he picks it up it loses the wifi connection. At first he was really liking Apple and the iPad but now his frustration is growing with the product and the company. I hate to see that because with my iPad2 I have become a huge proponent of Apple products but he doesn't see why because his product is inferior...too bad! I hope Apple does something to fix this problem soon so they don't lose some of their new customers.

Your problem is identical to the one I had both at my house and a friends house. I resoved it in varous ways - both by setting the connection manually as well as upgrading the wifi router.
A forum participant wrongly claimed I was including the link for search engine reasons (which is not the case) but simply search google for: "ipad3 wifi resolved" and it should be first link or scroll back various pages where I explain further with links and hopefully your boyfriend will be happy as it seems to be identical to the symtoms I resolved.

May 4, 2012 9:11 PM in response to Mike95by HLynn76,Mike, Thanks! We haven't tested it yet, but the symptoms sound the same as what he is experiencing and it sounds like a solid workaround. We will test and I will let you know, thanks!

May 5, 2012 8:06 PM in response to stlsteveby Razdad,l think it is a problem with the antenna, the lpad 1 has no problems and it has 2
decent antenna's.lf it was a software issue or modem issue they would send out a statement saying that.l just don't think it is physically possible to fix and or the cost would be too high to send out a recall. They might push forward the lpad 4 and maybe give a discount to people with lpads with wi-fi problems.l doubt it but just depends what they think about customer loyatly.
Below is a link showing the lpad 1 antenna's.

May 5, 2012 8:51 PM in response to Mike95by HLynn76,Well Mike,
Earlier this evening I was ready to respond and say so far so good. But just as I was getting ready to respond he picked up his iPad and it wasn't connected to the Internet. So, it seems to be doing better than it was (and thank you for that), but still more dropped connections than my iPad2. He may have to talk to Apple about it...we will see. I am hoping that over the next few days or week he sees an big enough improvement for it not to be an issue any longer.
Thanks again, as I do think it made a difference! :)

May 5, 2012 9:11 PM in response to stlsteveby Strat09,It may be the new QuadCore A5X Processor not being able to communicate with the LTE/ 3G Chip, it's fixable with an iOS update. Man you people complain about bad wifi... blah blah

May 6, 2012 1:15 AM in response to robertfromst helena islandby giorgosdimou,I did contact apple in Greece and what they told me was annoyingly funny. They say that iPad 3 is a green device so I should be happy to have a not so strong signal from my antenna firstly because of the cancer and secondly for the battery. So I should not be complaining and what they can do is give me another used one back

Your COMMENT: "Do you seriously think that all new iPads have the problem you describe?"
Yes, I am personally beginning to think so. I belive the majority of current users dont know any better.
If your unit is so perfect, how about telling the rest of us that have been searching for one of the "good ones" what the week of Mfg was on yours, and which factory it came from.

May 6, 2012 12:28 PM in response to pogle1by Jermil05,Although we now have >1200 replies on this thread, I have been saying from the beginning that the scope of this problem is undoubtedly much bigger than those of us posting here and waiting to hear from Big Apple. I have contended that there are many first time iPad buyers who don't know the difference, many non-tech iPad buyers who don't know the difference, and many people with problems who would never post here.
I am also intrigued by the folks who said that Apple doesn't monitor or respond on these forums. Could you tell me a better place to stay in touch with their customers? And do they really believe that Apple doesn't monitor this site?
Apple, by now, is well aware of the problem. Their lack of public acknowledgement, and lack of a fix after this much time, is absolutely deplorable.
How could anyone defend this?
