May 20, 2012 1:51 PM in response to pogle1by Usmaak,Thanks. My last two were DY from week 14. One got hotter than it should and had pretty poor battery life, and both had screen issues. I had a DY from a bit earlier than that with really bad light bleed. I'm not saying that there isn't something to the DYs being better. Just saying that my experience was a bit different. I'm still dedicated to getting a good one, but I want the next one that I get to be the last one that I get. Congrats on getting a good one.

May 21, 2012 6:33 AM in response to mic_mnby giorgosdimou,I have the same problem. I contacted apple care in Greece and they told me that I pad is a "green" device and this is supposed to be happening! Oh my god I said I would like my money back! This is frustrating. I upgraded it as well but nothing it's hardware issue

May 21, 2012 6:40 AM in response to giorgosdimouby JTZ12,I updated my router firmware, changed all settings to match Apple's recommendations for routing settings and still had problems with the dropout. I tried three different iPads and finally said forget it, just want my money back. Loved the iPad but not worth paying $600+ for something that clearly has an issue with staying connected to the internet. Hope they get it fixed...

May 21, 2012 7:29 AM in response to JTZ12by Lenny Terenzi,AN update... I decided to slow my roll a bit before taking it back. I had it wiped clean and packed up but no local Targets had anymore in stock and I love the device so ithought I would keep using it until I could take it back.
So I unpacked it and restored it from a recent backup and things were way way better. In fact from reading the posts I never actually lose my connection and all mydevices drop by at least a bar when in the bedroom (where my original post describe the issues)
Went to my girlfriends, hooked right into her wifi no issues. Screen is crisp and perfect.
So for now since it works just fine, everywhere I need it to. I am sticking with it. I have until mid June if I change my mind but I'm calling mine just fine for now...

May 21, 2012 4:25 PM in response to JTZ12by pp7822,Agree with JTZ. It appears, reading this thread, that lots of your are just 'putting up' with these serious connectivity issues. I purchased the new iPad when it came out, tried two different devices, on different networks and both dropped signal, lagging ect. I returned mine for a refund as I was utterly diassapointed, and remain so. However, what are your experiences with regards to connectiveity, since 5.1.1 update?

May 22, 2012 7:08 AM in response to Lenny Terenziby Sam Katz1,If it worked fine at your girlfriend's, consider subbing out your router for a router like that one. Glad to hear it's working fine.
I would encourage all those having issues to report it to apple via technical support and their router manufacturer.
Updating to the latest OS is an absolute must for those having problems. just do it, preferably via USB, although OTA is fine too.

May 22, 2012 7:05 AM in response to Sam Katz1by Lenny Terenzi,Same router actually. And as I said in my update above it seems to be fine now. Dont know why but I am not experiencing any of the issues from my original post aside from the single bar drop that all my iOS devices get in that room. I did update to 5.1.1 so maybe that did it even though it;s not supposed to fix anything.

May 25, 2012 9:14 AM in response to stlsteveby Kirk1,I purchased an Ipad 4G this morning at my local Wal-Mart. I have been lurking in this thread and waiting until Apple got their production processes polished a bit. I am getting 10 MB/s download and 7MB/s upload using the speedtest app over my home wifi. This is the same download speed as my Macbook Air and Lenovo W520 laptops. I have a linksys WRT54G router operating in G mode. I did do the update to 5.1.1 but did the above speed tests before the update.
The wifi will drop 2 bars when I hold it in landscape on purpose, but with the case I have I wont really be holding it this way so I am not bothered about about what is referred to as the "death grip".
Here is my info in case anyone else is interested.

May 25, 2012 9:55 AM in response to Mister petrelliby Kirk1,I am pleased with mine, the grip issues aside (but every device has bad places to hold it). I am able to get great download speeds all around my home and keep at least 3 bars. However, I did take the time to update my router's firmware recently. I am travelling next week and will be in a few different hotels. I will do the final testing on the road. Fingers crossed. If I have issues I will post an update in this thread.
I am glad this thread gave me the heads up not to rush out and buy one in March. I am glad I waited.

May 25, 2012 3:26 PM in response to Mister petrelliby Sam Katz1,For an unknown reason, sometimes when you add a new device to a network/router's tables, it is a good idea to powercycle the router. This should not be the case, and is certainly not acceptable, but it does help in certain situations and may not recur, esp. like the freezing issue you described. did it take down the modem or just the router? was the router running stock firmware or open source firmware?

May 25, 2012 5:53 PM in response to JTZ12by Sam Katz1,My guess is that your router was incompatible with the ratified N in the ipad. I would recommend if you do buy another ipad or other device that has this issue that you hire a professional computer repair shop or apple specialist to try to fix your issue for you at your house or place of business.
By definition, they will not charge you unless they fix it.. so they have an incentive to get it right, and unlike apple's phone and retail options, they can actually see your setup. But if it were up to me, I would immediately check your DNS settings, and I would replace the router instantly. I would then see whether it held the connection with the new router.

May 25, 2012 8:04 PM in response to stlsteveby Usmaak,Sorry for the off topic. But I was wondering. I keep seeing things like this:
Machine Model: iPad3,2
What does the ",2" mean?
