Mar 22, 2012 7:15 AM in response to stlsteveby Marvso,I ran three speed tests just now on my iPad 2 32 gb wifi only and my iPad 3 64gb wifi only. I had them side by side in same location. iPad 2 came in at 8 Mbps and iPad 3 came in at 10 Mbps When I set up my iPad 3 I did restore from old iPad. No problems here.

Mar 22, 2012 7:39 AM in response to Marvsoby bumpish,My new iPad is an LTE model, so it's possible that the Wifi only ones are fine, and that the LTE ones are the ones experiencing this issue. I will try turning off LTE tonight to see if that improves my reception.

I have a wifi only model and I am experiencing the problem. You are right it is not limited to just the LTE models.

Mar 22, 2012 8:44 AM in response to stlsteveby Marvso,I am approximately 60 feet from wireless router which resides in a different building. Connecting at 2.4ghz. Zero problems here.

Mar 22, 2012 8:49 AM in response to Marvsoby It_caveman,If your router supports it try at 5ghz. If you have weak wifi on your new iPad 5ghz will show it real quick.

Mar 22, 2012 8:50 AM in response to stlsteveby RyanLucier,OK I think a lot of you are confusing weak wifi reception for "the death grip" - I've uploaded a youtube video demonstrating how my signal will go from perfect to almost nothing if you hold the ipad in landscape mode on the bottom left corner (with volume buttons on the bottom, home button on the left).
You can see the youtube video I uploaded here:
This clearly demonstrates the ipad 3 design is very flawed, as it is only natural to hold the ipad on the bottom left corner with your hand when using it! This device is designed to be held, not rest on a table!!!
I apologize for my poor filming, it was done with an iphone 4S by me while also trying to demonstrate the problem, lol. I don't see how apple is going to fix this with firmware/software... iPad 3 is fundamentally broken...
-
Mar 22, 2012 8:54 AM in response to stlsteveby Marvso,Lol I am not going to change anything. I am getting a better signal on my iPad 3 then I do on my iPad 2. Not gonna try and fix what isn't broken.

Mar 22, 2012 8:57 AM in response to Marvsoby It_caveman,Don't blame you really. Most users use the 5ghz band though. Not as much congestion on that band. Mine works a little better at 2.4 ghz but I don't get anywhere near the 60 ft you are getting. Thanks ...

Mar 22, 2012 9:01 AM in response to RyanLucierby HeathClif,@Ryanlucier - But when I was in the store testing three iPads side by side, we weren't holding them, they were lying flat on the counter - and the diminished signals of the 3's compared to the iPad 2 were very evident

Mar 22, 2012 9:01 AM in response to a1000by tomazzzi,The problem is on ALL NEWIPADS, not just LTE models.
I have a 16gb wifi and i m unable to connect to some routers. ( cisco aironet )
I did managed to connect it after some tries but i can t access internet after some time even if the wifi signal is good ( i m at 1meter from the router )
IPAD1,2, iphone3g, 3GS and 4 connect fine.
Iphone 4s has exactly the same problem.
PLEASE SOLVE THIS !!!!!!!!!!!

Mar 22, 2012 9:06 AM in response to RyanLucierby BajaCapt,Ryan,
Thanks for the video, it clearly demonstrates the issue, I have a New iPad on order, ships April 3rd, I am now considering canceling unless there is an official response from Apple... I m new to the forum and this is my first iPad or Apple product, I have purchased iPods for my son and daugther but this is a first for me, I hope Apple reads this forum and takes the necesary steps to correct this issue.
Thanks again.

Mar 22, 2012 9:05 AM in response to tomazzziby It_caveman,I've seen this as well. It seems that some ipad3's act worse than others when they are held.
