Q: Poor wifi reception on new iPad

I am in a hotel with my laptop and new ipad3. The laptop wifi reception is as strong as it gets, but the iPad only registers a weak signal. Anyone else having similar problems? Any suggestions?

Don't know if anybody clarified this earlier, but it doesn't matter what security protocol is in use: WEP, WPA, WPA2, the WI-FI issue is not seeing ANY network for some period of time.  So in my townhouse there are the whole range of networks that it normally sees, my WPA2 being one of them. And then magically, they all disappear for some number of minutes until it decides it likes WIFI again.  Continued discussion about encryption protocols is not useful to most of us here.

I have also noticed that the range of my home network has been reduced. And there was a weaker network that I used to connect to while at work cant be connected anymore.

Actually, tried the asus with default settings also. I love my asus, and it runs all other devices like a champ. I'm not bashing the new ipad, just hopefull that there is a software fix. By the way, how do i stop getting all the posts emailed to me. My phone is blowing up!

Looks like CNN picked up the mashable article.  I was the second person to post on this thread and have been waiting patiently for a fix, but I fear I may have to return it and see if a replacement helps.  For the record, I am a high-level IT executive at a fortune 5 firm...I KNOW how to set up networks, etc....it's the ipad that is the problem.

Look at the top right of the browser page you are on now and you will see a little icon that says "stop email notifications".

Taco Bell has good Wi-Fi. Try the new Taco Bell Doritos Chalupa.

I have had sporadic drops, complete loss, of wifi sugnal in my home using ATT Uverse.  My iPad 1 never did this.  What's the deal is Apple going to replace these units, or help in any way?  It seems to be a rather broad based issue.

I have the new iPad for a couple of weeks now - have to connect, reconnect and sometimes it works.  Tried everything that was suggested by other users - forget the network, reset, etc - still spotty wifi connections.  Even when it does work, extremely slow.  I have to sit right next to my U-Verse router if I want a 'normal' connection.  Extremely frustrating!

I have the "new iPad" sitting next to my work Laptop my 13" MacBook (Late 2008), my old iPad1, and even my iPhone and all will show great connection in comparison to the "new iPad".  Infact when i perform a speedtest from speedtest.net, i generally am getting half the speed.  Its almost as if my new iPad is operating at B speeds while on G or N networks... Really disapointed considering what I paid to upgrade that i have all these connection issues while I travel.

My iPad 2, which is fairly new, constantly goes hot and cold on wi-fi.  One minute your working or chatting away, next there is no wi-fi signal.  This happens at my home, in my office, and everywhere else I go with the iPad.  I knew better than to buy an Apple product, but my boss insisted so now I'm stuck with it.  I will probably go buy a tablet to use and just carry the iPad around to make my boss think I'm using it.

    Hi guys

I posted a couple of days ago saying I had problems with iPad and iPhone. Since then I have turned the router off and reset my network settings on iPad and everything seems to be working fine now.

It's been about 24 hours since I've done this and haven't dropped the wifi, so not sure what was going on but everything is fine now.
