Q: Poor wifi reception on new iPad

I am in a hotel with my laptop and new ipad3. The laptop wifi reception is as strong as it gets, but the iPad only registers a weak signal. Anyone else having similar problems? Any suggestions?

And what news would that be? The LEAKED document? Sorry, as far as I can tell Apple has not publicly stated anything. I welcome a link to a story where they have.

I guess the sun still hasn't shown itself up north yet eh?

Thank you caveman for showing these people their lack of resolve.  They want everyone else to fix their problems.

There you go clipper 99, read the link that caveman posted for you because you are too lazy too search it yourself.  Quit whining b***, no more soup for you!!!

That's just a rehash of the original story based on a supposedly "leaked" Apple document. I'm surprised that CNN would post something based on such flimsy and questionable evidence.

Apple has officially said nothing about this subject.

Thanks to grubili. It is tiring to hear from annoying Apple Apologists, and those lucky enough not to have the wifi problem, that those of us dealing with the problem every day are making this up or don't know what we are talking about. (For the record, I have been working with computers since the first PC's). The problem is real and it would help a lot for Apple to acknowledge the problem and say they are working on a fix.

Again, this is a link to a story ABOUT LEAKED INTERNAL DOCUMENTS. You come here spouting that Apple said this and Apple said that...APPLE HAS SAID NOTHING!!!!!!

Read WAYYYYY back in this thread:

    - I have an iPad with wifi issues

    - Exchanged for a 2nd unit that still has issues

    - I am waiting for a fix or response

My issue now is half-truths, whining, melodramatic statements and otherwise gobbledygook.

Seriously man, you need to change your handle to "Baked Alaska"...it makes way more sense.

Guys, I posted this so everyone that was enterested could find and read it quickly. I did not post it to annoy or bother anyone so I ask kindly that no one put words or thoughts to my actions that I did not think or state. I have no desire to get into arguments here, I have enough to do otherwise. Thanks.

I wonder if you and how many of the people complaining here have read this document.  By the way I called my closest Apple store and they are following the guidance of the article that we are sending you to.  You either believe or not, you are probably sitting on a laptop without an ipad, playing games anyway.

I have zero problem with your post Caveman, I read the story yesterday. Unfortunately now people are thinking that Apple has actually PUBLICLY acknowledged our problem and the sharks are circling like a feeding frenzy. Baked Alaska isn't helping either.

    Amen caveman...

Leave that work to me.  I actually enjoy it quite a lot.  Small people that can't see pass their nose, if normal otherwise, are a good source of amusement to me.

Just for the record ( see past posts) I had the wifi issue on the AT&T wifi + 4g device and went through 4 of them. I returned them,  they were bad and Apple offered a 5th bit I declined and told them I'd wait a few weeks a nd try again.  I have 40 years in IT so I known when something isn't right. I also have seen some good ones but mine wasn't. Hopefully my next try will net me a good one.

Did anybody here read news at all?

Apple already said yesterday that they were investigating the wifi problems and were picking up ipads at their stores to have them check by their technical people (ship back to Apple), which you would agree know more about the subject than you or I.

You will receive a new ipad that works fine with wifi as you drop your ipad at the store.  So far, Apple said that only wifi only ipads are having problems.  That the 4G variety are not having wifi issues.

Do not come back to me on this, that is what Apple said to the news.

I question the possibility of a "fix".  Based on my own verified experience with the "death grip", it seems like an antenna issue.  Until I tried the one particular hand-placement, I had virtually no WiFi problems.  Fortunately for me, the "death-grip" is not my normal hold, and I purchased a Pelican i1075 case, which holds the iPad and keyboard, and the "death-grip" is even less of an issue.

Question: Is there anyone here who has watched the "death-grip" videos, tried it, and not had a problem?
