Apr 5, 2012 7:52 PM in response to stlsteveby qx549,So I must say first and foremost, I am not defending Apple or disputing any issues whatsoever. What I will say is that I had no wifi issues regarding connectivity with my 32G Wifi only model. I had to get a replacement for a display related issue; I now have a 4G 32G model AT&T (yet to see any issues).
Being in technology development, I understand there will be issues with any new product launch. If you have any issue whatsoever, contact Apple (which posting here does not do). You purchased the device for a reason. You expect it to function as advertised. You may not be happy, but ultimately you want them to remedy the situation so you can use the device. I have had many experiences with Apple customer service and have never been let down.
Consumers create the hype that can cause product launches to fail or flourish, but we have an equal responsilibity to report the issues via the appropriate channels. Keep reporting and hopefully, for those of you with issues, they will figure out something soon.

Apr 5, 2012 7:58 PM in response to Usmaakby kmr2,Thanks Usmaak - that is what I was saying. My music takes up more than 16GB, so I hate having to prune. But, my fault for breaking my old one in the first place:) I can live the the 16GB. Cheers.

Apr 5, 2012 8:24 PM in response to Usmaakby CRAIG1951,I am having trouble with WIFI reception on my 64G iPad. I receive 3 bars to 1 bar reception 15 feet from the router. The signal constantly fluctuates from weak to strong.

Apr 5, 2012 9:17 PM in response to stlsteveby aclockworkorangutan,I am curious. How are you guys monitoring your WiFi signal? I opened the settings in my iPad 3 and it only shows a little icon with about 4 or 5 bars.
On Android devices there are tons of apps that allow you to monitor your WiFi signal, discover new signals, etc. I can't find any such apps for the iPad.
I read somewhere that Apple removed all these kinds of apps from the App Store because there were no APIs available to developers monitor WiFi. Is this true?
How does Apple expect us to determine whether our particular iPad is affected by this WiFi "issue" if they don't allow any apps to monitor what's going on? Perhaps they should develop one and release it so that we can be a bit more definitive about what we report to their support team.
The ability to submit a WiFi log to the Apple Support team would be invaluable.

Apr 5, 2012 9:23 PM in response to stlsteveby mike sanders3,I am also experiencing slight problems in that iPad 3 is not as quick as iPad 2 in picking up wifi signal after being opened, I often have to go to settings and remind it then is is OK.

Apr 5, 2012 9:38 PM in response to mike sanders3by fsd717,This is already a well know problem with the new iPad especially with the wifi version, apple even acknowledged it and advised you to bring your iPad to the store for evaluation for replacement....no sense to suffer and figure it out yourself how to fix the problem when you can just bring it to the store and have them deal with it by replacing it with a functional one.

Apr 5, 2012 10:00 PM in response to stlsteveby Mike95,I have solved the wifi issue where disconnects occur. First it appears
only to happen when connecting to wireless-n connections. Wireless-g
doesn't seem to have any problems. Note this is only for the repeated
disconnects and has nothing to do with the low signal issue some have
mentioned.
I blogged all the details earlier including ways to reproduce (five
different ways) to the solution until Apple updates the software.

Good luck.

Apr 5, 2012 10:23 PM in response to Mike95by Bxnym,I have the AT&T 4G 16GB model and have no issues whatsoever using wifi wireless n...I'm using a netgear wnr1000 wireless n router...tried up to 20 ft and still had all my bars with blazing speed. Try updating router firmware to see if that works.

Apr 5, 2012 10:30 PM in response to Andrew Mclaughlin2by mikesoderstrom,Anyone know if Apple will consider replacing iPad 2's with wifi issues? Plenty of forum discussion on the exact same issues for iPad 2 that's being described here for the new iPad.

Apr 5, 2012 11:17 PM in response to stlsteveby BajaCapt,I been reading with interest on this thread since near the beginning, reason being I had one on order, well, I received my new iPad today, I was a bit concerned to get one with the WiFi problem, heating problem, or yellow tint problem, I am very happy to say I have none of the above.
My new iPad is working flawlessly, the WiFi remains strong no matter how I grip on to it, I been loading up Apps etc for the last couple of hours and I feel no noticeable heat anywhere on it at all, and the screen looks simply superb... So, there is hope that some of the early models had that manufacturing problem...
So, there is perfectly working New iPad's folks, I wish the many of you here with the issue to have your problems solved...
I should mention here I have a Lucent Alcatel (Fiber Optic) router with Telnor Mexico, I am seeing results of 18 Mbps down and 14 Mbps up, very close to my PC 20 up and 20 down.

Apr 5, 2012 11:42 PM in response to stlsteveby DaJmon,I too am experiencing connectivity issues with the WiFi only 32GB iPad 3. Initially, the device works fine, but as online time increases, signal connection decreases with no apparent decrease in strength (as indicated by the bars on the WiFi icon). The problem eventually requires a "PC style" reboot of the device. The problem repeats in the same manner every time. The other failure mode is post-idle time related. I use a sleep timer every night to listen to music. Every morning, the problem is to the point that the iPad will not even download email. It requires the recycling of power, at which point, the degredation of signal connection begins anew.
This is not a problem with the router or configuration because no other 1st or 2nd generation iPad, iPhone, iPod touch has any issues, ever. If the iPad2 and the iPad3 are collocated, the iPad2 just chugs along with no issues while the iPad3 simply degrades over time.
As far as speed goes, all other computers indicate downstream speeds of 9.5Mbps while the iPad3 is indicating 1.2 or less, if anything at all.
A very, very expensive frustration. Hope Apple has a solution in the works. To their credit, they did resolve the iPhone 4S battery life issue with the last iOS update, so...we'll see.
