My interpretation of the the words "select titles" in Apple's statement is that this feature is only present for certain books which have been produced so as to allow it. So you will not find it available for every book.
i downloaded ibooks 2.1 on my iphone and they wrote on the app store the you can " See page numbers that correspond to the printed edition of select titles" but i can't find that option did you had the same problem
