Ken Burns effect in IDvd

can somebody tell me exactly what the ken burns effect is? I saw it in iMovie, but didn't know exactly what it was and why...

This effect allows you to "pan and zoom" across still images. Try it!

You can't use Ken Burns (KB) directly in iDVD. If you want to make KB slideshows, you will need to create the slideshows in iPhoto or iMovie and send them to iDVD from there. Use "Send to iDVD" in iPhoto after creating the slideshow, and/or use the iMovie just like any other iMovie.

Both iPhoto and iMovie do have KB as an option!

Hmm, this is not working for me. The KB part after sending to IDVD, that is. The slideshow imports/exports, but not the effect. Still working on this.

Paula You could pan and zoom in any segment of your movie if you have After Effects. In fact this is what Mr. Ken Burns does on his still images. It is very simple( In AE all you have to do in lay up your still image and keyframe the anchor point then render as a Movie in the desire format) This may sound confusing if you are not familiar with Adobe After Effects but really this is the real deal.

I have same problem with Ken Burns effect. Works fine i iPhoto. Share to iDVD takes a long time but the result is iDVD opening with previous iDVD project and the actual iPhoto exporty nowhere to find....

John, I have the MacBook Pro and having difficulties sending to iDVD the slideshow from iPhoto. It gives me a message saying an error occured during import/export and unable to create movie file. Have you encountered this problem with anyone else?

Could be a particular jpeg and/or a particular music file.

Try a short experiment with different photos/music and see if it will export (create the movie) in your Movies folder in your home folder.

Thanks for the fast response. I do have the standard jpeg pictures. I used the standard sample music also. I opened iDVD and selected Magic Movie to import the slideshow from iPhoto....it shows my all albums EXCEPT for my slideshow albums....very confusing. Any ideas?

To export slideshows in iPhoto, I use "Send to iDVD" in iPhoto. This creates a QT movie that iDVD can use, and puts it in your movies folder, in your home folder.


That's why you can't import a slideshow from iPhoto, 'cause it's not yet a movie that iDVD needs unless you "share" or export it.
