I'm trying to connect my iphone 4S to Alpine CDE-125BT head unit.

I'm trying to connect my iphone 4S to Alpine CDE-125BT head unit. I have the latest iphone IOS update (v5.1). When I connect the phone, the head unit gives me "Unit Error" which means that the iphone is not recognized. How do you fix this problem?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1

I bought the radio at Best Buy and Best Buy is telling me that the latest update of the apple IOS is what broke the connection. Their recommendation is to wait for apple to provide another update. The Best Buy rep also said he was having problems with other Alpine head units with the iphone 4S with SW 5.1.

I'm posting as a way to let Apple know there is a problem and to see if others out there are having similar issues with 5.1 and Alpine products.

I will be contacting Alpine during normal office hours to talk with them.

The people at best buy are clueless. Call Alpine. Alpine's own documentation does not claim it is compatible with the iPhone 4S or iOS 5. Technically, it doesn't even claim compatibility with the iPhone 4. It claims compatibility with the iPhone 4G, which does not exist.

You are not speaking to Apple. This is strictly a user to user forum. It is not monitored by Apple.

KitledTim, thanks for your responses. I appreciate your help.

I have more information that prove useful to others who view this post. The user manual for the CDE-125BT states that a user MUST have the ALPINE FULL SPEED Connection cable (PN KCE-433iV) to connect to the ipod/iphone (this cable is only supplied with the CDE-126BT) connected to the back of the head unit. What is more confusing is that what is supplied with the -125BT is a standard USB to iphone cable giving you the impression that it will work on the front USB port. The installers at Best Buy have seen that the front port has worked in the past but has had problems lately after the 5.1 IOS push. I went and purchased the FULL SPEED Connection cable and now audio streaming does work. The only thing that doesn't work is the ability to charge the phone when plugged into the radio.

How do you drop a line to Apple to ask about accessories (or problems with accessories)? I'm trying to provide as much info to Alpine to see if they have a solution.

says who ? not supported ? what that means ?

its my iPod i pay forIT, Apple don't have control on what i use in it

I DOWNGRADE and send many people to the Apple store at the mall to do the same, yes lately they don't want to do it but its easy to find old software versions online, and it was the only way to make it work with the alpine stereo there are no updates from alpine
