Group Messaging "Off" not working.

I keep getting woken up in the middle of the night by people responding to a group message I received earlier in the day, despite having the Group Messaging setting turned to off. What gives? I have the iPhone 4S with iOS5, although I know I had this same bug prior to the iOS5 release. Thanks.
