iTunes Store error (-3212)??

Hey, when I try to connect to the iTunes store, it says iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occurred (-3212)??

What does this mean? Btw, I have allowed iTunes through my firewall, I am connected to the internet, have updated to the latest version, deleted itunes, redownloaded it, restart it, restarted my computer, turned off the proxy thing in my LAN settings, and emailed Apple already.. What more can I do? I can't go into iTunes help as it says I'm not connected to the internet when I am. I can't check for updates either, as I need the Store for that :/ sorry for the big long text, any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂 thanks 😀

Alerts with codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the gs.apple.com server on ports 80 or 443. This may be because out-of-date or incorrectly configured security or firewall software is interfering, or due to your Internet proxy settings. If you are using a proxy, try removing the proxy settings, or using a known-good network. If that does not resolve the issue, follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

Had the same exact error with Norton 360 installed. Could not uninstall Norton 360 by add/remove programs so I downloaded the Norton removal tool. Get it here:

After rebooting, Itunes worked perfectly.

For those having problems and they have AV/firewall installed. Try removing it completely and reinstall. wiclee's post above is also very helpful.
