Since updating to Lion, anything I save to my flash drive, even when it has not been opened on another device, comes up as read-only that another user has the document already opened. Also .pdf files that I had bookmarked and saved in Preview can't open. Any way to fix this problem?

Is the drive being shared on the network? What is the exact text of the error message?

The drive is not being shared, it is not connected to any sort of networkk.

Open the Info window for the drive. Give yourself read & write access if you don't already have it, then (even if you made no changes) select Apply to Enclosed Items from the action menu (gear icon.)
Why is everything read-only?
