For some reason I cannot edit the clip duration on short video clips. If the actual clip duration is 3 seconds it may only play for .1 second after it is added to my movie project. When I try to edit this value (.1second) to 3 seconds the value always reverts to .1 second. Seems like this only happens on short video clips. Does it have something to do with the type of transition I use?

I would suggest removing the transitions.
A transition can be no longer than half the length of the shortest video clip on either side. If you have a short clip, the transition is likely taking up the whole thing.
Thanks for your help. I thought transitions may have had something to do with the problem. Makes no sense to be able to insert transitions between clips if the transition is causing problems. I looked everywhere I could think of in the "help" areas of iMovie but of course found no answers.
