How do I change my password?

I am 74 years old and stupid when it comes to Mac. I have always used PCs where I worked and now that I am retired, I purchased a beautiful 27" iMac (2.7GHz, Quad Core i5, 16GB memory, Lion OS X) and I absolutely love it! I feel like I have been working with only a half computer all my life. Here is my problem: Whenever I am asked for my Password, I have to hit the Enter key without typing anything in for the Password. Is there any wan I can set the password on my iMac? Thanks in advance for any help.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 27" 2.7Ghz Quad Core, 1TB hard dr

Apparently, you created your first admin account w/o a password, something Apple and now you say is bad practice. Given it's a new machine, you're running Lion. For that, see http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/24/reset-mac-os-x-10-7-lion-password/and http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/19/change-password-mac-os-x-10-7-lion-without-knowin g-current-password/.

BTW, I'm 71 1/2, so we're not stupid.
