Slow work after update to 10.6

Hello.

I have macmini 2.1

Core Duo 1.8 GHz

1 GB Ram.

Earlier macmini worked on OS 10.5, but i needed 10.6

Macmini work in Domain Windows 2008 R2.

After upgrade to 10.6.8 sometimes i have slow work during login, open separate menu in General Setting.

When i enter sudo su in terminal i wait 4-5 minutes before ask password.

I thought that I did not have enough RAM.

I bought 4 GB of RAM with speed 800 MHz, but MAC OS show me - 667 MHz. Why? Not support more?

But it is still slow.

When i work with Adobe Photoshop - it is faster.

User uploaded file - it is memory during work

User uploaded file - it is when i click "unlock for make changes" - and wait 2-3 minutes!!!

Thank you!

800 Mhz RAM is not necessarily 100% compatible with 667 Mhz bus slots. Only use RAM that is spec'ed for your machine*:

http://www.macmaps.com/badram.html

Your machine will take a maximum of 2 GB of RAM.

SMB networking can be slow unless you have sufficient disk space* to transfer information back and forth. I would visit the Windows compatibility forum for best practices on networking with Windows.

Also your machine can't have Lion installed.

If you have brought over PowerPC applications, plugins, and drivers, these may need to be updated before you get the full speed on your Mac.

so. work with speed 667 - it is normal, if macmini have bus 667. I thought that there bus 800 GHz.

and my macmini take all 4 GB:

and in my first screen - top show me 2110 MB free.

Activity monitor show me i have 3 GB. Why? because non x64 bit?

I just updated the system to 10.6

Now, when i type sudo su in terminal, all applications is slow 😟

When i just click to other user account - the system preferences Not responding...

First off, you have a Core2Duo as the above image shows, not a "CoreDuo." Those are entirely different processors. In June of 2006, Apple started introducing Macs with Core2Duo, which weren't yet fully capable of addressing the full 4 GB of RAM even if inserted. In my humble opinion for those Macs, you are better off just getting 1 GB and 2GB and settling for 3 GB, as the 4th GB is not addressable in anycase. It wasn't until the next generation of Core2Duos that Apple fully addressed all 4 GB. Among the processes showing up there is VNC Server. That can take a bit of processing load as it brings over the entire virtual environment of a remote server machine to your Mac. Disabling Remote Desktop, Screen Sharing, or VNC will speed things up. The fact you have more than one user active will also slow things down. Simplify your setup as much as possible, and make sure you have sufficient disk space.

I apologize. My mistake with the processor.

I just unplugged macmini from the Windows domain - everything became working fast.

Why ?

How correct to configure MAC OS X to work with Windows Domain?

If i configure via standard tools - after work is slow.

If i configure vie Likewise tools - in next day authorization not work 😟

and about my Macmini. it is not 2006. it is 2007 http://support.apple.com/kb/SP7?viewlocale=en_US

support 2 GB RAM, but now i have 3 GB.

And question: why apple not whrite number of CPU or socket?

Core 2 Duo T5600 - effective clock frequency of 1.83 GHz processor, cache second level of 2 MB, FSB frequency is 667 MHz

Core 2 Duo T5550 - effective clock frequency of 1.83 GHz processor, cache second level of 2 MB, FSB frequency is 667 MHz

which my CPU?
