Running OSX lion server on mac mini - enegy consumption

Hi,

This is probably a basic question, but Im looking at purchasing a mac mini with OSX lion server. The mini will be monitor free and sitting in the corner of my room. I would like to try and keep the energy consumption down. When the mac/server is not busy (ie: over night) can the mac be shut down or does the mac/server always have stay on? I will be hooking up some WD 1TB drives as storage too.

cheers

The decision to turn on or off is based on the services that the server is offering. If this device is doing dhcp, vpn, or web, then turning it off during the overnight hours prevents users from interactive with it. However, please note that the mini is a real power saver:

The mini sips power in comparrison to other products. As strange as this may sound, that WD extrernal drive will likely draw more power and generate more heat than the mini.
